LONDON (Reuters) - U.S. Treasury Secretary John Snow said on Wednesday that cutting a record budget deficit was a top priority for the second-term Bush administration and challenged Europe to play its part in helping trim the U.S. trade gap by boosting its own economic growth.

2. That was the plan all along
Remember Grover Nordquist?

He said the idea of driving the deficits up (and decreasing revenues through tax cuts)was so that we could only afford to pay for defense and interest on the debt.....that would mean that the entire "New Deal" era programs would have to be eliminated.....

It's working.

3. exactly . . . they won't cut military spending, so the only place left . .
to cut is domestic programs . . . they intend to "starve the beast" while they and their friends line their own pockets with huge hunks of that military budget through things like no-bid contracts . . . disgusting . . .
