911 TRUTH FILES LAWSUIT WITH NY ATTORNEY GENERAL ELLIOT SPITZER

100 prominent US leaders including three national presidential candidates, Nader (Indp.), Cobb (Greens), Badnarik (Libertarian) Parties, and actor Ed Asner, singers Michelle Shocked and Richie Havens, etc. have signed a 911 Truth Statement, along with 40 9/11 victim's family members, in support of an official complaint delivered to New York Attorney General, Elliot Spitzer's, office demanding a criminal investigation into the events of Sept. 11th, 2001.

The Statement supports an August 31st Zogby poll that found nearly 50% of New Yorkers believe the government had foreknowledge and "consciously failed to act," with 66% wanting a new 9/11 investigation; and a recent online CNN Poll of 11/11/2004 that showed 90% of respondents believe there is a US government cover up of the events of 9/11/2001; and now on the heels of the stunning CNN poll comes a whistleblower, an executive at Underwriter Laboratories (who tested the WTC steel beams), who's informed 911Truth.org that the official story of the WTC buildings collapsing because of burning jet fuel is a false one.

Focusing on twelve questions, the Statement highlights areas of incriminating evidence that were either inadequately explored or ignored by the Kean Commission, ranging from insider trading and hijacker funding to foreign government forewarnings and inactive defenses around the Pentagon. The Statement asks for four actions: an immediate investigation by New York Attorney General Eliot Spitzer, Congressional hearings, media analysis, and the formation of a truly independent citizens-based inquiry.

In this so-called "post-911" world, all peoples are becoming increasingly concerned with security. Yet as history has shown us, increased security always comes at the expense of our civil liberties. But is it all about security?

Like Russia and China before it, America is rapidly transforming into a gulag state, as a full 3 million citizens currently languish behind bars. Rather than fund schools and hospitals, this nation builds prisons. This contrasts sharply with the greatly reduced crime rates in Europe and Japan, where social needs are provided for citizens on a much more substantial scale.

In this issue we will examine some of the wide ranging concepts of Law & Order including, crime and punishment, the American "litigation society", the global push for a unified system of law, the drug war and the prison-industrial complex, and the abrogation of civil liberties that come with increased security.
