Hey Tucson: Drink Shit (Literally)
And people wonder why I always talk non stop about how I hate this fucking city I hate this piece of shit hick infested state and I wanna get the fuck out ASAP.

Liberal city my ass, Tucson is only liberal compared to Alabama, they call us "liberal" when a good 45% or so voted for Bush.

TUCSON, Ariz. - Using treated sewage for drinking water could help sustain the supply here, said the director of the city's water company.

The sewage now trickles into groundwater outside Tucson's water supply, but putting it below Tucson Water wells now may prevent problems later, Tucson Water Director David Modeer said.

1. Wow
Funnily enough, I grew up in Tucson, and live in Alabama. Politically speaking, I wish I was back in Arizona. But a red state, is a red state, is a red state.

At least I can drink the water here.

And the freakin' 'Cats lost to Virginia!! HOW IN GOD'S NAME DID THAT HAPPEN?! I digress...

2. I wonder what the treatment level of the sewage is?
Direct reclamation of potable water from sewage is the future of our water supplies. You'd be suprised at how well sewage and water can be treated. De-salinzation of seawater will one day be economically viable also.

3. Where else do you expect to get your water?. . .
Do you have a river hidden somewhere in your backyard? For without some hidden river, or through utilization of plans such as the one proposed by Tucson Water, you -- and all your neighbors -- are going to be in desperate need of water in the coming years. Look around you -- it's called the Sonoran Desert because, in part, it has a paucity of water.

Had the planners and developers throughout the Southwest been a little more forward thinking, they'd have installed a dual water system throughout the cities -- one set of pipes for drinking, one for irrigation and cleaning and other "grey" uses. But to retrofit the settlements now would cost a fortune, so maybe innovative recycling processes -- no matter how distasteful they may initially strike us -- will prove one of the more viable plans.

4. Cheer up, there are benefits
All the medicines that people take (and eliminate) do not get fully removed in the treatment process. So you could be getting trace amounts of prozac, making the issue less distressing. And if there are traces of birth control hormones, it could help lower incidents of violence as people's chemistry changes.

5. They're already using treated sewage effluent
...For watering the golf courses and parks. It would be easier to extend the existing reclaimed water system to water individual lawns.

Drinking is a pretty small part of water use. If they try to make you drink it they will have to clean it up better than what you have now. I can't believe he's serious, that's pretty expensive.

Or, if he wants to allow higher mineral content, you could just re-start the CAP water treatment plant. Get some return on that "investment". I worked on it 14 years ago, but it ain't being used. A classic boondoggle.

Tucson is pretty cool, it's more "liberal" than Phoenix, but you still have a lot of Repug assholes. Best of luck!
