Letter to the (CA) Daily Breeze: GOP's questionable ethics
GOP's questionable ethics

I am a 62-year-old lifelong Republican. Having said that, I can only wonder why your paper has not devoted any significant space to the incredible flip-flop of my party in the Tom DeLay matter. I thought we were above the fray and had at least a semblance of ethics.

We can say all we want about a Democratic witch hunt, but the point is that the House majority leader is on the cusp of an indictment by a grand jury.

An indicted majority leader? The emperor truly has no clothes, and I am ashamed to be a Republican.

6. Lots of registered pubbies still cling to the fiction
that they belong to the party of Lincoln. They won't switch because they keep hoping their party returns to its roots of fiscal responsibility and common decency.

They remind me of a lot of Democrats I know...

4. I wonder if the author voted for Bush.
I seem to recall that DeLay's ethics violations were a matter of record before the election, as well as many other Republican "flip-flops", lies and unethical practices. People had all the information needed to see the truth and vote this administration and DeLay out of office and yet millions of them chose not to. We're are getting exactly what could be expected and there's more ugly stuff about to hit the fan, but it's a bit late for regrets now. An indicted majority leader will be the least of it.

5. The information was there
The information was there, there is no question on that at all.

The question is more from this, why wasn't the information really used... the same goes for Kerry, why didn't he attack Bush's many foibles, follies and shortcommings that have cost American lives.

He and far far too many democrats didn't use the truth as the greatest weapon, instead they seems to allow the republicans to control their campaigns.

7. Why not? It is Congress, not the W.H. that changed the rules
After all, there are other points of disagreements with pubs senators and congressmen
