The budget is kaput
The federal government is again operating on temporary spending authority. A massive catchall-spending bill was rushed through -- only to be set aside -- because of provisions giving congressional delegates power to peek into IRS operations (including individual tax returns). Don't worry, Republican leaders say, because this glitch will be fixed next week.

But there's a bigger problem Congress must fix -- the appropriations process is kaput. Congress cannot fund the government on time. This year it failed to authorize nine of 13 spending bills before the election. And even when spending bills are enacted, they are more confusing than Enron's accounting scheme.

The federal budget ought to start with simplicity: How much money does the government spends versus how much it raises? That means a general accounting for every federal program -- including those so-called trust funds -- into a logical sequence.

1. some blame the conflict with radical right
some pundit said the conflict with the repubs is to blame... before reaganites, the process was more gentlemanly.

So the deep solution is to sweep all republicans from office... beginning with the spread of AAR to get that little job done. LOL. Little job indeed.

3. One hour was what the RW gave us to read fifteen pounds of Budget paper
before voting on it. ONe hour.

That is insane. And we are supposed to trust their e-vote machines? Supposed to trust a Reaganite Republican to singlehandedly run Ohio's election process?

2. The repugs control
the White House, both houses of Congress, the CIA and the FBI and still they cannot pass a budget on time.
And they can't blame this on Clinton because he is distracted admiring his new library.

6. Let's start with incompetence,
greed, hypocrisy.

They are so busy taking over the world they simply do not have time to administer this country. They think they are in control here.

Little do they know what awaits them...

5. Dem programs in simple terms: cost
Edited on Fri Nov-26-04 09:50 PM by oscar111
4 Billion to end all homelessness
12 B to end all hunger
3OO B to end all poverty

PS ..Not as urgent , but desirable:
3O B to cut in half the time to find disease cures, by doubling the NIH

Total for basic dem programs for the poor, 316 B.

Bush's taxcuts for the rich totalled about 35O Billion.. three taxcuts.

Rolled back, they could have ended all the suffering in america. And cut in half the time for finding disease cures. Bush is Christian?
