(Repukes) Be careful what you wish for
By MARIANNE MEANS
SYNDICATED COLUMNIST

WASHINGTON -- The tyranny of the majority that Democrats fear from Republicans now that President Bush's re-election gives him power to dominate all three branches of government is off to a funny start.

There's an ancient proverb that it is wise to be careful what you wish for, because you might get it.

The vaunted presidential juggernaut has cowed the Democrats but not his own party, at least in these early days. A lot of stuff happened this month that did not make the Republicans look good. Not all of it appears to have delighted the White House. And new polls suggest that Bush's victory was due more to his likability and military leadership than support for his dramatic domestic reforms in Social Security, Medicare, the tax system and conservative cultural positions.

That indicates political trouble ahead for Bush unless he can compromise with Democrats to win bipartisan support. But that's not his style.

1. let's all watch Rush start in on the other Repubs
that will be too sweet

Already the right-wing talk-show hosts are becoming boring. It's their team in charge, and if they are to demonstrate their usual cranky attack skills, they are going to have to turn on some of their own.

This new scene will be delicious to watch. May their ratings all go down.

3. Wha'?
"The vaunted presidential juggernaut has cowed the Democrats..."

Cowed the Democrats? Yes, I am disappointed maybe. Yes, I'm upset. Yes, I'm bewildered, but I'M NOT COWED!

On the contrary, I'm even more pumped now than before the election. By the end of the next four years, the vast majority of Americans will finally realize what a fraud he is.

4. Wishful thinking
and likely to be way off the mark.

What Ms. Means say might be true if it were democrats in charge- but Republicans are a different breed of dog entirely- her single little privacy example notwithstanding.
