Editorial: Santorum stalking Capitol Hill his way

U.S. Sen. Rick Santorum, R-Pa., was one of George W. Bush’s campaign
chairmen in Pennsylvania. So it may be understandable that he was
disappointed when his man was drowned in a flood of blue-state votes
on Nov. 4 in the home of William Penn. But Santorum couldn’t let it go
at that. In election-night comments to reporters, he specifically
singled out Bush’s miserable performance in GOP-heavy Delaware County
as a reason for the loss (Sen. John Kerry topped the incumbent by
40,803 votes here).

That didn’t sit well with Delco’s boys who run the Grand Old Party,
who noted that Santorum lost his own home county -- Allegheny County
-- by 95,287 votes.

The staunch anti-abortion conservative -- perhaps best known for his
weird ruminations about homosexuality and "man on dog" sex -- has
always had a cavalier relationship with consistency.

Santorum’s election-night hypocrisy was only the most recent example.
In 1999, he didn’t have any problem with collecting $350,000 in
damages when his wife sued her chiropractor -- all while pushing to
cap the damages in malpractice lawsuits for everyone else.

And of course he’s been in the news recently when it was revealed that
the Pennsylvania school district where he owns a two-bedroom house has
been paying $38,000 a year for his five children’s tuition at a cyber
school -- where they "study" from the Santorum’s full-time home in
Virginia.

1. Good job, DelCo Times! Thanks for the link.
I truly hope that bucket of slime is on his way out.

2. smug and smarmy
I like this part:

The only surprising aspect of the flap is that a canny old pol like Sexton would expect anything more from Santorum, one of the smuggest and smarmiest politicians stalking Capitol Hill these days.
