If You've Ever Needed Something to Help You Throw Up...
OK, this is incredibly disgusting. You wonder how far we've actually come, sometimes.

Be prepared to hit something, preferably the administrators at this school.

1. Revisionist Garbage extraordinaire...So slaves had a life of "plenty," eh?
Edited on Fri Dec-10-04 02:10 PM by benfranklin1776
Gee then that whole Fugitive Slave Clause of the Constitution was wholly unnecessary then. After all why would such well treated well cared for people who had "mutual bonds of love and affection" with their masters needed to run away and why would we ever have needed to force individuals to return them if they escaped, so much so we enshrined it in our founding charter of government. I mean surely the framers were mistaken. These people had it so well they would never have wanted to leave!

Sarcasm Off.

This is puerile garbage but I am sure perhaps only the first salvo in a right wing crusade to repeal the 13th Amendment. Corporations would love such a cheap source of labor.

"Students at one of the area's largest Christian schools are reading a controversial
booklet that critics say whitewashes Southern slavery with its view that slaves lived "a
life of plenty, of simple pleasures."

Leaders at Cary Christian School say they are not condoning slavery by using "Southern
Slavery, As It Was," a booklet that attempts to provide a biblical justification for slavery
and asserts that slaves weren't treated as badly as people think.

Principal Larry Stephenson said the school is only exposing students to different ideas,
such as how the South justified slavery. He said the booklet is used because it is hard to
find writings that are both sympathetic to the South and explore what the Bible says
about slavery.

"You can have two different sides, a Northern perspective and a Southern perspective,"
he said."

3. After long wondering why the RW's wanted to deny abrtions to poor women...
for several years I have felt that what they really want is cheap house-servants/slaves.

Add cannon fodder, too.

4. No doubt about it
This is why they don't give a shit about immigration laws. The country is awash in illegal aliens and the corporate management loves it. They like to "outsource" labor functions to "independent contractors" who violate immigration laws every day to reap greater profits while driving many hard working citizens out of work.
