Illustration of a shackled baby eagle in Bahgdad with Rumsfeld reflected in his eye, for the song

Come home for Christmas

Dear Son
We'd love to see you again
please please fly home for the holidays.
Do what it takes
even if you must crawl walk or run.

Dear Mom
In dreams I see my soul ascend
and then fly away home for Christmas.
It makes my heart ache
that I must stay here and carry a gun.

Dear Son
Please come home whats the delay.
They said you could come home last year.
I know how it is
The large print giveth and small taketh away.

Dear Mr./Mrs.__________
We regret to inform you
Private _____________ has given
his/her full measure of service
To the Untied States of America.

..................
ITS NOT YOUR FAULT

There's no money to buy
the armor you want
but there's money to burn
for W's stunts.

Its never your turn
when its time to come home.
Its too late to learn
if you're cut to the bone.

He'll land on a carrier.
You'll land in Iraq.
You'll build a barrier.
with the bodies ya stack.

You couldn't be braver
to fight for a lie.
George is our savior
while you're left to die.

If we dare yell
send home our troops.
they yell bloody hell
thats not supportin the troops.

You knew from the start
about WMDs.
You know in your heart
that hate's a disease.

No need to go further.
I want you back home
with no pictures of torture
you took with your phone.

Its never your fault
when you're following orders
A pre emptive assault is
a crime without borders.

4. The words to that song break my heart.
My son is no longer young enough to be thrown into that obscene killing field in Iraq, although when I see even 65 year olds being called back, who knows? My heart goes out to mothers who are, today, facing that terrible pain.

I thought that was Rummy reflected in the bird's eye, but couldn't be sure. I don't know what we're going to do. Things seem to be getting worse by the hour in this country. Every day when I log on to the internet there are new and more horrible atrocities.

I'm sitting here with my morning coffee, wondering if we'll ever...ever get rid of these monsters. I've just finished reading Pamela Troy's article on the home page. I'm already depressed, and I haven't even been to LBN yet.

Sorry to ramble, but it's worse....worse than anyone can imagine.
