96% of women are liars, honest
What if 96% of women are lying about this?

-----------------------------------------
96% of women are liars, honest

EDWARD BLACK

NINETEEN out of 20 women admit lying to their partners or husbands, a survey on attitudes to truth and relationships has found.

Eighty-three per cent owned up to telling "big, life-changing lies", with 13 per cent saying they did so frequently.

Half said that if they became pregnant by another man but wanted to stay with their partner, they would lie about the baby’s real father.

Forty-two per cent would lie about contraception in order to get pregnant, no matter the wishes of their partner.

snip

In the poll of 5,000 women for That’s Life! magazine, 45 per cent said they told "little white lies" most days. The favourite untruth was "of course you don’t look fat", with "these shoes were only £10" in second place.

-------------------------

And what if the pollsters are women, does that mean 96% of their polls can't be trusted.

Somebody suss this out. Please. It's blowing my mind.

1. Gender bashing... where is the men's side?
I'd say that 96% of people tell white lies on a daily basis.

2. Bashing? Who's bashing?
Where do you get that?

It begs many obvious questions.

7. It begs the question
of a poll about lying being meaningful while calling 96% of those polled liars.

It begs the question of the motivation of a gender-based summary like this.

It is filled with paradox, and of dubious purpose and value.

5. Please look up the meaning of "begs the question"
before using it.

And that, dear friends, is one of my grammar irritations, since those threads have been floating around.

Or beg off.

8. Full of wit, this one
OK, since you don't know the proper meaning of "begs the question", I'll assume that logic is not one of your strong points, as it directly relates to said field. Therefore, it is beyond you to deduct from my cryptic post that you are using the term incorrectly.

"Begs the question" does not mean that it raises the question. It simple terms, it means that circular logic is being applied to an argument.

10. OK I'll explain the logic to you, despite your condescending pettiness.
The circular aspect is the questioning of purported liars and forming statistical conclusions about lying based on the supposed truthfulness their response.

Now you look up wit.

14. It calls into question the basic trustworthiness of women.
If the poll had said "96% of Blacks lie daily," it would be considered racist.

But since it's just women, who cares, right? It's derogatory. That's the problem with it.

19. It would be bashing if stated as opinion.
But not as a survey. I've already stated my thoughts on the dubiousness of that. But, it's not bashing.

If you do not lie you are dirt...so lie either in your comment or in the dirt...it's the same to us! (not)

Edit: Of course I am of the old school..I can talk and you can talk all you want...Talk about eating my liver with fava beans and a good chianti...or talk about anything sexual that does not include me, my sig other or any of my children, or you, your sig other or your children and I think it is just fine! NEVER EVER TOUCH..all else is permissible to me. Bad jokes, innuendo, pretense of any kind. I am an ADULT, I can take it!

18. No outfit can really disguise the facts.
I have never understood the superficial rancor between the sexes.

Gender war suffers the fate of all wars---there are no winners.

In terms of honesty, it is its own reward.

I've slipped into a parallel universe that's almost but not quite like the one I live in. In my universe, woman never miss the opportunity to point all of my failings and faults. I hope I can stay in yours for a while. It sounds like a very nice place.

16. Some people call it "Lies"...
others call it cicilization:

"of course you don’t look fat"
('cause you mean something to me and I know that you have feelings and I don't want to hurt you)

"these shoes were only £10"
(I only live once and I want to enjoy myself and at least, feet are never fat)

"Saddam has WMD's"
"They hate us for our freedom"

And men are really obsessed with the truth:
"Military men are dumb, stupid animals to be used as pawns for foreign policy." (Henry Kissinger)

I somehow find a human reason for all the lies, being told by women, mentioned in the article.

I couldn't say the same about men.

Being one of them in Germany,
Dirk

23. And Your Point Is?
Edited on Sat Dec-18-04 01:51 PM by Demeter
Do you think there would be any human race if women didn't lie to conceal their efforts from the moronic among us? When dealing with a macho man, there is no alternative: he can't hear truth, and he would punish the woman if by accident he did.
