I came upon this site with articles claiming our experts knew what . . . |

was coming and approximately when. . . but did nothing. Sound familiar? < http://globalresearch.ca/articles/CHO412C.html>

2. Almost forgot, you do know that Somolia was one of the countries . . . |
|
that lost lives as well. Has anyone heard anything about Somalia? You know, the place where AIDs has taken out all the 20-40-year olds, ethnic cleansing has been going on for years, 10-month-old little girls have been raped because their are rumors that having sex with a virgin will cure AIDs. There are children born with AIDs, and they only have their grandparents to take care of them because their mothers and/or fathers are dead from AIDs.
One more thing . . .remember Bush promised 15-billion dollars for AIDs medicines, AIDs research as well as education. . . not one dime has been spent. Go figure?
Well, these people have been ignored and starving for years. Why should our Government try to help the so-called "Silent Catastrophe" known as Somolia. That is what that U.N. guy was talking about when he stated the U.S. had not done anything for the "Silent Catastrophes" that get no news coverage.

14. LOL Just laughing at this board and the subject content here . . . |
|
right now.
From what I gather, our scientists knew it was going to happen or knew there was a good chance of it happening but warned no one.
Also, with all those laser beams (green ones) being shot into airplanes this past week or two, I'm saving my tin foil and am not ashamed to admit it.
Wonder what that is all about anyway?

6. Tsumani Relief as Subterfuge? Pentagon re-enters Vietnam-era Thai air base |
|
by Sirinapha 29 Dec 2004 Modified: 30 Dec 2004
Is the tsunami aftermath a “window of opportunity” for bolstering the Pentagon’s presence in Southeast Asia? The Thai people reject the proposed build-up of the American military at Utapao air base and in the Gulf of Thailand. The tragedy of the natural catastrophe in the Indian Ocean should not serve as a pretext for strengthening the U.S. military presence on land, sea and in the air in the region.
The Pentagon has announced it is returning to its old Vietnam War haunts at Utapao Royal Thai Naval Air Force Base 90 miles south of Bangkok on the Gulf of Thailand. In this clear escalation of the American military presence in Southeast Asia, the ostensible plan is to set up a "command center" for the tsunami emergency relief effort. Utapao air base will serve as a staging base for U.S. military and rescue aircraft. The emergency relief operations appear to provide a windfall opportunity for beefing up the American military presence in Southeast Asia, part of the expanding Pentagon strategy of "forward positioning," establishing sites, so-called "air cargo hubs," where American forces can stash equipment and enter and leave as desired.
During the Vietnam War, Utapao functioned from April 1967 as a major staging base for B-52s carrying out bombing raids over North Vietnam, and KC-35 stratotankers of the Strategic Air Command. Many American GIs served there <1>.
Despite Thailand's neutrality on the war in Iraq, Thai Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra allowed Utapao to be used by American warplanes flying into combat in Iraq last year, and into Afghanistan earlier. There is also speculation that Utapao, with its infamous facilities for 'sophisticated interrogation' (a military heirloom from the Vietnam era), is probably where various al-Qaeda suspects have been secretly grilled.

8. Let me get this straight..... |
|
We detect an earthquake and possible tsunami, giving us about a two hour window to alert several countries in Indonesia of the coming danger. In that short space of time, a decision is made to not attempt any warning so that we can get an airbase back in Thailand? Unless of course we actually started the earthquake, using our pact with the Martians who have the necessary technology....

7. Military exercise? Free-Republic forum posts indicate military induced it? |
|
When I read the thread as linked to from a thread in the DU forum, I took it as a joke in poor taste, but now I ask, is this a joke?
Would the US military actually induce a Tsunami? <I am unable to search DU, and cannot post the link for anyone>
Imagine if the US was hit by a Tsunami? The majority of this country's population resides along the ocean lined states, and they are mostly Democratic states!
This is too far fetched for me to take seriously at this point.
The allegation of impropriety by the US military and executive branch are disturbing me already

"at this point"??? So at some point you think you'll be buying into a theory where the almighty U.S. can start undersea earthquakes at will? Get a grip folks.

11. Tsunami's triggered by people? Dude, I got this stuff from Free-Republic? |
|
How can I deny it is ultimately possible, without further knowledge?
At this time it seems impossible, but in time I reserve my right to alter my opinion, based on becoming more educated on the subject.
Sorry if this perturbs you.

I can get on board with the notion that we would opportunistically use this devastating international disaster to increase our military presence in the region, but I'm not really seeing us start an actual tsunami. I mean, if that's something we wanted to do, we wouldn't have been caught so flat-footed. We would have been ready to swarm the insurgents in Sri Lanka, take the coastal areas of Africa and impose our "order" on the muslims of Indonesia. Nope, greed, not cause.

12. Events to persuade the masses of biblical prophecies? |
|
Which of these recent events are caused by man, and which are not?
If the military has gotten some way to cause weather and geological disruptions, then surely that would explain away everything happening, but if not?
Then how do we reconcile these prominent climactic, geological, and geopolitical events?

16. Well, I do know from watching NOVA that our scientists . . . |
|
as well as those around the world are trying to find ways to control the formation of clouds and rainfall so there would be no more droughts, no more flooding. I think that would be great if they could do that; however, if it were U.S. scientists that discovered it, would they help all the World, or use it to their own benefit?
I really do not know the answer to that question anymore.
Half the time, I'm worried I might say the wrong thing on here and some FBI guys are going to come to my door.
I'm an American, born in America, raised in America, and come from a good family of veterans, hard-working, and a very civicly-involved family. On my 18th birthday, before any partying, my father insisted that I go register to vote before anything else . . . and I did and have voted in every election since.
I have always been proud of our Country, the courage of our troops for continuing to keep their committment of duty, even though I believe most of them realize this war was a personal war for Bush and his oil and greed; however, I am afraid of our Government.
I cannot imagine how anyone who is not a citizen of this Country must feel. Am I being foolish for feeling this way and/or overly paranoid?
