the very idea anyone thinks the media is LIBERAL and they are going to "take down" a glaringly incompetent "president" who DOESN'T EVEN QUALIFY FOR THE JOB and has been TRASHING AMERICA FOR FOUR YEARS, after he TRASHED TEXAS FOR SIX, is so, SO freaking absurd - why torment myself? Why bother?

CNN has Conservative undertones, Fox is just ultimately Republican...
PBS is basically only one of the few respectable channels with news coverage (News Hour).

20. CNN has pandered itself to capture FAUX's audience so that |
|
they don't even seem to pretend anymore.
If it weren't for Olbermann and The Daily Show, DU would be (sadly and somewhat dangersously) the only place I got my news anymore.

The media was never liberal; apparently truth just favors liberalism and progressivism.

5. Air America a luaghingstock & financial fiasco? |
|
I count 41 affiliates, plus satellite radio and RECORD numbers of people streaming over the internet.
Why is Rush's consistent 2 share in all markets (propped up by sympathetic advertisers) a "success" when AAR has gone from 3 to 41 in only 9 months? I find AAR's success quite remarkable, actually...

'cept now I'm wondering if we should be careful what we wish for.
You want Colon Bowel Jr. determinine what's fair and balanced on the air? If Fox News is what the government determines as the gold standard for objectivity in reporting, we're all well and truly Cheneyed.

Seems to me liberals can't get airtime, or get it too late, or only get in it fiercely conservative venues where they mostly serve as punching bags.
Except for Air America, a station they had to buy outright in order to get a word in edgewise,
There is no liberal media.

This is the first step in a process: they always start whining like this about the "liberal" when they know they're gonna get hit. So, what are they expecting to get hit with & are there any ideas that we ought to use?

No, really, funny shit in there.
Fox News is a response to the overwhelming liberal media bias.
That bias, said Evan Thomas of Newsweek, was worth between five and 20 million votes for the Kerry-Edwards ticket.
ooookay. IOW, if we had a "fair and balanced" media, then we can predict with scientifical ackracy that Kerry would've only drawn,oh, between 37 and 52 million voters.
then there's
Mayer also disclosed that a secret meeting of anti-Bush billionaires was held in August, after the Democratic Party convention, and that Soros was a key participant.
But we didn't see any stories in the media about the "billionaire conspiracy" against the President.
...the FUCK? you couldn't swing a cat in the summer of 2004 without some wingnut whining about Soros!
I could go on, but I have a life.

16. No surprise - facts are omitted in the statements |
|
I had to stop reading about half way through.... but this just made me roll my eyes...
-snip- In Ohio, where the anti-homosexual measure passed with 62 percent of the vote, 16 newspapers opposed it, including the Cleveland Plain Dealer, the Toledo Blade, The Cincinnati Enquirer and The Columbus Dispatch.
btw - so did both of our REPUBLICAN senators and our REPUBLICAN governor. It was a BS bill put on the ballot in a stealth kinda way to bring out the church vote.
Just goes to show - they know the Shrub is corrupt and could have a case against him that makes Watergate look like a ticket for a wide right turn and they are preparing their followers for the scapegoat of the liberal press.
Ugh - the brainwashing..........

|
Edited on Tue Jan-04-05 11:28 PM by tom_paine
if there is one it is dwarfed in size by the Bushevik Propaganda Edifice, and it is forced to still try and obey some rules, while the Busheviks can self-reinforce any damned lie they please or shout down the truth.
Like Hulk Hogan whining about how Gilligan is planning to whip his ass.
Or more accurately, the Nazis using their battered Jewish population as Scare Tactic, when in fact in Germany and most everywhere else the Jews had no power at all.
It is disgusting and frightening and enraging, watching it all happen again.
We are one LIHOP or an economic calamity away from the abyss of Totalitarian Darkness (albeit Kinder and Genlter and without boxcars of piteous victims, I think.

|
Edited on Wed Jan-05-05 08:27 AM by bunkerbuster1
I just want one that holds everyone's feet to the fire. Problem is, they don't.
Hell, listening to NPR this morning, there was yet another goddamned Bush-licking story about SS "reform." After presenting the reThug plan in terms that conveniently avoided mention of the trillion or so it'll cost to finance these mothercheneying private accounts, they had a guy on from DC's Urban Institute...
and I suppose he was supposed to be the "balance," but crap--he was describing this theft in the blandest, most namby-pampy manner imaginable. And of course good ol' Maura gave him slow-pitch softball followups, asking toughies like (paraphrasing) "If we were going to start SS from scratch, how many years of benefits would the typical recipient expect to see?"
Hardly an upgrade from the rest of the Rove steno pool.

25. Exactly. One of the biggest problems with the media now is |
|
that they are are big-time LAZY.
They let press releases function as news with nary a check into accuracy.
"The Republican Noise Machine" really opened my eyes. I knew it was happening, I just didn't know how it happened so easily.
We need to get a truly free press back before we can really hope ot accomplish anything as progressives/liberals. Not a LIBERAL press, a free, objective one. The truth just favors our side, it isn't part of it.
