What are the REAL reasons we're in Iraq?
Down the Rabbit Hole

Tomorrow, we are told, the President will address the nation to explain his Iraq policy.

White House spokesman Scott McClellan said Bush will offer a progress report on the war and address "our needs going forward." He also will seek to link the effort in Iraq to the global war on terrorism, although there is no evidence of Iraqi involvement in the Sept. 11 terrorist assaults at the World Trade Center and the Pentagon or of direct Iraqi ties to al-Qaida.

The question is, just why did we invade Iraq? It's a hell of a question. I fully expect to hear this question argued over for the rest of my life.

1. Simple...
1)To secure American strategic interests (oil)
2)Secure regional peace (allowing pipelines to the Med. Sea)
3)To protect civilization (the oil industry)
4)To enable free trade (extraction and distrib. of Iraqi oil

3. Haliburton
Actually, I'm beginning to think more and more that one of the major reasons we're invaded Iraq was to transfer a boatload of money to Halibuton Inc. Just think, first we destroy a country, then we pay the major republican donors big bucks to fix what we destroyed in the first place. Kind of win, win...except for the poor troops getting shot at every day, and not to mention the Iraqi people.

4. Exercise
Started with China and it didn't work out. (Maybe everyone has forgotten about that exercise)

Attacked at home gave a reason for action.

Does he still have clothes on? Regan's movies always ended with the good guy winning.

5. Revenge.

1. Bush wanted revenge for Sadam's attempt to assasinate Bush Sr.

B. The 'Murkin sheeple wanted some A-Rab Muslims killed as revenge for 9-11. It didn't matter which A-Rab Muslims got killed because they're all brown and you can't tell them apart.

It's hard to say if any one of these reasons is a Main reason. It may be that any one of them would have been enough. Lucky Shrub that they all worked in the same direction.

7. Just go to the PNAC website
and read what the neocons wrote -- they spelled it out quite nicely in such treatises as Rebulding America's Defenses -- world domination, oil and the control of oil, strategic position in which to 'democratize' the middle east, because they wanted to show off America's muscle and well, just because they could.

A few articles that are insightful with links to RAD article as well as other PNAC articles

9. Good Article
Was surprised that I had not seen it. But found out that some of the articles are nested away.

Seems that the article brings together everthing that one has been reading but all of a sudden it is new. Hope it catches.

Everything one needs to get started. (A lot of references.)
