Feel like a sucker? You should, and you can thank Bush

The Bush administration's awkward relationship with the truth becomes even more problematical with the report that it was paying -- bribing, really -- a radio talk-show host to pitch its No Child Left Behind education program.

But Williams is a conservative hustler, in the manner of talk radio generally, and surely could have been counted on to hawk No Child Etc. on his own. In effect, the administration spent good money to buy what it already owned. Go figure.

This is, put plainly, fraud, but who can be surprised?

Since the president is of good heart and all his people have good hearts, too, as he is always telling us, what they actually do apparently doesn't count. They mean well. So the president can blithely kite a Clear Skies initiative that increases air pollution and a Healthy Forests initiative that increases logging in the national forests, and he is called to no serious account for the scam.

Try a bait-and-switch like that on the sidewalk and the bunko squad would have you in the slammer before you could close the deal.

1. Wiiliams
These are the same people that used to "repave" elderly people driveways. They were known as the Williams's in the sixties. They "repaving" lasted 2 weeks.

2. I'd forgotten about the Williamses!
They also used to put on new roofs, I think. Which also lasted long enough for them to collect the money and get out of town.

I think it was actually an extended family. White, however.

3. But wait...I'm confused.
Good, upstanding Christians would never do what is suggested here.

I'm sure it's a series of harmless errors and when we hear the explanations, we'll all have a good natured laugh about the misunderstanding!

(Just in cases - Sarcasm)

How long are the masses going to listen to this crap?

PS. For the right price, I'm available to support a given initiative after the check has cleared.

4. any predictions "the masses" will suddenly
realize they have been had are sadly mistaken. Our population is rather stupid, and doing everything they can to increase their lack of knowledge.
