LTTE-Bob Boudelang LIVES!!!! Constitution Lacks Church-State Wall
In our constitutional Republic all laws are to be derived from the consent of the people. As 84 percent of the people in the U.S., as of 2000, are Christian, it is to be expected laws will follow and should follow the large majority's view. Minorities are not restricted in the practice of their differing religions, but they should respect the religion of the majority, and they should not claim special provisions to hide Christianity from sight because of their differing minority views.

One who criticizes creationism, the basic tenet of Christianity, labels himself as secular, and quite probably atheist, or at least agnostic. Lofty-sounding objectives mask an attack on organized religion. One need only to read the Humanist Manifesto 2000, especially the part where specific changes to government are proposed, to discover the fundamental means for suppressing the Constitution these people are dedicated to carrying out. Not for me, thank you.

Since when has our Christian society ignored equality, freedom, justice, liberty, and government by the Constitution (under God!)? It is not faith-based Christians who have promoted activist judges who circumvent or interpret the Constitution, abortion on demand (i.e., willy-nilly killing of babies), redefinition of needs as rights, and marriage redefinition to suit activist minorities of many stripes. One must draw the line of change at our Constitution, or this society will drift into hedonism. Does Imperial Rome come to mind?

The Constitution does not demand separation of church and state. Read it! Judges have ruled in some cases that a specific separation would be beneficial. There has been no amendment to the Constitution to this effect, nor should there be. No, thank you! Jim Farrar. richmond.

7. I'll bet you can add and subtract the numbers (here) to get to 84%

13. We think too much alike.
I came across that site only minutes before posting, in case I had to defend my position. The old me would have including it in my original post on this thread....the new me likes to keep stuff like this in my hip pocket.

That site claims that as of 2001, 77% of Americans classified themselves as Christians..a drop-off of nearly 13% just 11 years earlier.

My question is, "What does "classified" mean in this context?" I suppose that someone could be born a Christian, yet not practice and still be "classified" as a Christian.

I suppose that if I wanted to....I could be classified as a Christian. I was born a Christian afterall. But guess what...I'm not a Christian though I do subscribe to some Christian principles. You know...."THOU SHALT NOT KILL"...that kinda thing.

I was christened as a Presbyterian but I don't know that "Christian" would make the top 10 words I would use to describe myself. I too subscribe to many Christian ideals but they really aren't Christian ideals they are just decency and common sense-I doubt that Christians were the first to come up with them.

ON EDIT- I think that number (77%) comes from a running head count -"BAPTISED!!! Got one ....count him!!!"

5. Drift into hedonism???
These people are priceless. Has Jim ever been to a NASCAR week-end? He might want to do a little looking in the mirror before pointing the finger at "the causes" of hedonism.

9. Quite a leap
I always sort of thought the resurrection was the basic tenet of Christianity, silly me. That's what I get for being a Catholic I guess.

16. flippin' idiot! Creationism has doodly-squat to do with many Christian
denominations. I love how the Fundies presume for the sake of these arguments that every Christian worships in lockstep with their ridiculous world-view.

Then again, it is possible they simply don't know any better, and assume that any joint with a cross on it takes the Bible literally.

17. Any, not many
It just doesn't occur to these dumbasses that if God created everything, then he created evolution too. Regardless, Jesus came to bring people together through forgiveness, no matter how they think they got here.

8. Strange, I keep seeing these odd-shaped buildings with two boards
nailed together on their roofs. Weird, never noticed them before. What can they be?

Some of them have bells, some of them have funny stones in their back yards. Weird playgrounds for the kids.

I looked up the addresses of a few, but couldn't find any real-estate tax records for them.

Must be some eccentric individuals with too much time on their hands. Never seems to be many cars in their huge driveways, though, except on Sundays.

14. Creationism is the basic tenet of Christianity???
And here I thought it was love and peace.

I guess I didn't read all of Jesus' sermons about the earth being formed in 7 days through the snap of his daddy's fingers.

...that there's no "faith-based Christians who have promoted activist judges who circumvent or interpret the Constitution"? What utter folderol.
