WP Article on Bush's Speech Sunday - A MUST READ!
In Speech, Bush to Ask Americans and Allies for Teamwork on Iraq

By Mike Allen
Washington Post Staff Writer
Sunday, September 7, 2003; Page A21

President Bush will use a prime-time address tonight to make a conciliatory appeal to countries that opposed the war in Iraq and will warn Americans that peace will take much more time, administration officials said yesterday. He also is likely to reveal the amount of money he plans to request from Congress for Iraq next year, officials said
The tone and content of the 8:30 p.m. White House address will continue a fundamental reworking of the administration's Iraq strategy that first became apparent last week when Bush decided to negotiate for a U.N. mandate for a multinational force in Iraq as a way to attract more troops and money from allies.

"The president will reflect on the fact that we didn't all agree on how to confront the threat from Iraq, but that's behind us and we need to focus on the future," a senior administration official said. "Iraq is now the central battlefield in the war on terror. These attacks have been on the civilized world. Collectively, we have an interest in getting this right."

Bush has resisted giving the United Nations greater control in Iraq, and his aides described no significant concessions in the speech. The senior official said Bush will say that "long-term success will require increased international cooperation, among other ingredients."

1. WTF !!!
"Iraq is now the central battlefield in the war on terror. These attacks have been on the civilized world"

??????????????????????

Those idiots are still saying that Saddam had something to do with 911 !!
Let's get it straight. Iraq had nothing to do with 911.
The "attacks on the civilized world"
were conducted by the U.S. military at the direct order of Smirk commander in Chimp.
The death toll is rising
The "Wounded" are not talked about --one big media HUSH
blown off legs, depleted uranium sickness, pneumonia, suicides !!

they need to get out completely and
give ALL control of the country to the formerly "irrelevant" U.N
and give ALL CONTROL the oil fields to the Iraqi people

ALL TROOPS HOME NOW

9. Civilized world equals Israel
Uncivilized world equals Arabs/Islam.

This is the meme for the aeropspace/defense contractor/energy industry/banking alliance that pulls the strings of the fascist junta.

12. "Iraq is now the central battlefield in the war on terror"
Anticipating this latest rationale for war and occupation, last night I dashed off a LTE:

President Bush told us we needed to invade Iraq because Saddam Hussein must be disarmed. When no weapons of mass destruction were found, the rationale became liberation and democracy. Now Iraq has become something it wasn't before the war -- a battleground in the war on terror. I can see why staying the course is such a difficult task -- Bush keeps changing it.

2. are these bozos serious
President Bush will use a prime-time address tonight to make a conciliatory appeal to countries that opposed the war in Iraq .... "The president will reflect on the fact that we didn't all agree on how to confront the threat from Iraq, but that's behind us and we need to focus on the future," .... Bush has resisted giving the United Nations greater control in Iraq, and his aides described no significant concessions in the speech.

So the speech will consist of "come on and help me out, I'm not giving you anything, but I'm being nice"

shithead

6. Is this paragraph some
kind of joke?

As described by aides, Bush's speech will confront several Iraq-related questions that Congress has been imploring him to decide for months. A Republican official said Bush "will discuss in specific terms the amount of money that will be needed in the near future." The official said Bush waited so long to give a figure because he "felt an obligation that when he gave one, that it be accurate."

Since when has bush* told us anything that was accurate?

Oh please, There haven't been any killings of US soldiers in 5 days.

The number of deaths in Iraq is starting to drop off.

We don't need the damn French, and there is nothing in the article to suggest that Bush is going to go grovelling before them.

I guess this bozo expects the Iraqis to break out the flowers

edited to add another:

Then I hope I'm wrong and this solution stabilizes the situation in Iraq. But how long will it take to hammer out another resolution, and who will foot the bill? We where going to pay Turkey $14 billion just to stage troops from their country. How much will it cost us to actually get troops from those countries? We'll probably wind up paying for the whole thing, as well as eating crow. We could do better with our own reservists or troops from Germany.

11. WHAT threat from Iraq?
They keep insisting that Iraq was a clear and present danger to the U.S. There has been NO freakin' evidence to support the claims of this evil, stinking administration. They keep lying, the press remains silent and doesn't point out the blatant lies, and Americans keep lining up behind this "courageous" war time president. I'm seriously considering yanking out the internet, TV, newspapers every source of information and live like a hermit. I just can't take the lies and coverups anymore, it's driving me crazy. I need a break from this shit, I'm too old for this crap.

Bush is going to say lots of things tonight. Most of it will be dribble. He'll talk about all the good things happening becuase of his adminstration's actions.

Quite frankly..... I want to hear him discuss the bad things that are going on becuase of his adminstration's actions.
