Bush's Grand Plan: Incite Civil War
Edited on Sat Jan-15-05 12:07 PM by tomkertes
Mike Whitney in ZNet writes:

"The Bush Administration is intentionally steering Iraq towards civil war. The elections are merely the catalyst for igniting, what could be, a massive social upheaval. This explains the bizarre insistence on voting when security is nearly nonexistent and where a mere 7% of the people can even identify the candidates. (This figure gleaned from Allawis Baghdad newspaper, Al-Sabah) Rumsfeld is using the elections as a springboard for aggravating tensions between Sunnis and Shiites and for diverting attention away from the troops. Its a foolhardy move that only magnifies the desperation of the present situation. The Pentagon brass expected a cakewalk and, instead, theyve found themselves mired in a guerilla war." http://www.zmag.org/content/showarticle.cfm?SectionID=15&ItemID=7030

If there is civil war, the US will have difficult time leaving.

If the war gets worse, a draft is more likely.

edited to add: the easier to implement martial law and openly repressive laws due to the "state of emergency" engendered by civil war.

3. As soon as the chaos escalates on election day, we can go
in and mow them all down.

5. crissakes, you may be right - if it weren't in DC, I'd be concerned
with police induced rioting - I get the impression DC and perhaps its police force may not be so friendly towards *co's need for violence and chaos.

4. Some of the candidates and party platforms are undisclosed.

Some of the candidates and party platforms are actually undisclosed and might remain so until after the election. See http://www.csmonitor.com/2005/0113/p01s03-woiq.html . The projected numbers of Sunni voters as a fraction of elegible Sunni voters is atrocious too (Shiite projected turnout, OTOH, is expected to be quite high).

8. 2008
Does anyone REALLY see Bush turning over the reins of power on January 20, 2009 and going quietly back to Crawford? No way. He has world power for himself on his mind and in 4 years, if the sheeple and media remain as they are now, there will be calls for martial law and 'temporary' cancellation of the 2008 election.

Is this idea really so far out?

9. A U.S. deal with the Shi'ites and Kurds?
Wipe out most of the Sunni politicians (Insurgents) and the U.S. will allow the winner more % of the oil revenues?

10. I don't think Dumbya's planning a civil war ....
having these "elections" is just another example of the sheer incompetance/stupidity of this adminstration which is to go thru with whatever moronic beliefs they have and hope for the best
