I drive between Eau Claire and the Twin Cities fairly often, and
have been annoyed by the "SUPPORT OUR TROOPS" graffiti spray-stenciled on a couple of overpasses on I-94. Yesterday, however, I noticed that somebody had lightly edited one of these graffiti by whiting out the "TR" in the last word, leaving the message to read SUPPORT OUR OOPS. That has to be one of the most brilliant graffito-revisions of all time.

1. Three cheers for the SECOND graffiti artist.
If you know where s/he is, I'm sure some other places could use his talent.

4. Of course people here support the troops. They've been put in
an untenable situation. It's truly disgraceful what has been done to these young men and women.

5. I most certainly don't support the uses to which our troops
are currently being put.

My idea of supporting the troops is to bring them home and restore veterans' benefits.

How many of the people driving around with flags flapping, their cars emblazoned with "Support Our Troops" are actually supporting our pre-emptive, aggressive war in the Middle East?

6. Welcome to DU msternot.
When you have been around a while, you will be able to tell that we do not take involving our men and women in an illegal immoral war lightly.

And you, too, can support the troops by supporting one of our Presidential candidates who wants to get them out of Iraq, or sending packages to soldiers. You see, we really CARE about what happens to them.

9. "Or else?"
is usually what follows a command. A more effective exhortation would be "Please support the troops."

There's been signs stating "I support President Bush", in big letters, and in smaller print, "and the troops." Very annoying that bushco seems to think more of the office of president than the troops who are actually dying.

Add that this administration is trying to downplay the LIES that they told to take the US to war by saying it was a mistake, an *oops*, and you can see why this grates on any rational being's last nerve.

8. Well, I support the troops
Edited on Fri Jan-09-04 11:13 PM by RatTerrier
I support bringing them home as soon as possible, and giving them a raise and ample benefits.

For the ones there, I support giving them security, health and decent food and living conditions.

"Suporting the troops" is more than waving pom-poms and singing "God Bless The USA". Talk is cheap. Actions are not. And it seems our current misadministration is NOT supporting the troops adequately. How much has the unelected asshole and his ass-kissers in congress slashed soldier's benefits? What about the soldiers' families living on food stamps? Is this "supporting the troops"? I don't think so.

I have no problems with the message. I just hope whoever wrote it knows exactly what "supporting the troops" really means.

ON EDIT: Why the hell does Haliburton charge $28 per soldier per day to eat rotting, unhealthy food? This is far from supporting the troops. This is bordeline treason!
