The difference between the DNC and the RNC

Supporters of the Republican National Committee know that all Republican candidates are on the same page on the issues that unite them (less taxes, less social programs, more defense)

Supporters of the Democratic National Committee do not have the same assurrance. I am opposed to the Iraq war, in favor of a practical sensible, economic policy including the progressive taxation and a social safety net, and against the patriot act and other forms of government censorship.

The reason I don't give money to the DNC is because many of the candidates they support don't agree with me on the issues that are important to me. Until the DNC starts showing some leadership, I won't donate.


Do other people think the same way? Is there a flaw in my thinking?

1. I stopped donating to them for duration of the primaries

I'm not happy with the way they've been leading (or NOT leading).

I have informed them in writing and each time they call that I am supporting individual, generally progressive, candidates with my money since the DNC does not represent or support my needs or the needs of my families and friends. The ways in which it doesn't represent or support us are too numerous to mention.

Suffice it to say that they seem to represent corporations and have provided us with no hope that they'll lead the change for anything better.

2. I agree 100 percent.

There is a serious leadership problem in the DNC, and the Party as a whole. Who is the leader of the DEmocratic Party? Terry McAuliffe? Bill Clinton? Nancy Pelosi? The Repubs know who their leader is, but we as Democrats are divided, and forced to endure divided leadership. Simply put, we're not unified. The candidate who wins the primaries needs to be lifted up as the voice of the Party, and we need to all get behind that candidate with one voice.

3. I totally agree - our nominee needs to not only win the Pres. but also get

our party whipped back into shape. Our Democrat Party needs leadership as much as our nation needs leadership.

5. Not to nitpick,

4. New Democrats

As Ralph Nader has pointed out there is often little difference between a "New Democrat" and a Republican. They are both mired in the corruption of corporate money.

Democrats have to get back down to the grass roots. That or just bolt the party altogether.

Seriously if progressives abandoned gay issues and got abortion OFF the agenda, they could form a clear majority united with southern "Bubbas". Those cut out would be corporate fat-cats (big new taxes for them) and fundamentalists (followers of the false christ).
