1. Well, for him personally...nothing yet.

Its all personal for right wingers.

If it doesnt happen to them personally, it doesnt exist.

3. Freedom from unreasonable search and seizure
"Sneak and peek" raids clearly violate this principle.

4. Turn him in to the authorities.
Send in an anonomous note saying he smells of goat cheese or some such nonsense. Then ask him to fly out to see you. When they tell him he's banned from flying and they won't tell him why, he'll get the message. The problem is that no one thinks it effects them until they kick in your door at 2 a.m., and then its too late.

5. Tell that to Jose Padilla, a US born citizen.
Picked up at O'Hare, he has been held in a military brig for a year and a half with no charges against him and an attorney who has never seen or spoken with him. This was done by the POTUS who declared him to be the enemy.

Jose Padilla's right to be be charged and tried is no different from your brother's right. If we abandon Padilla's rights, then we abandon our own.

12. The Patriot Act is Just An Extension Of The Drug Wars
The 1990's have been awful for privacy and freedom and the Patriot Act has just made things worse.

It must work since domestic terrorism is down, but personally I think it is too high of price to pay.

18. What "Domestic Terrorism" are you referring and down from ?
What numbers are people using to describe "Domestic Terrorism"? Are they using the people caught in Texas with the Chemical weapons and thousands of rounds of ammo and enough guns to equip a small army? How about the Anthrax mailer? How about Columbine? Was that "Domestic Terrorism"? Are you sure we are much safer from "Domestic Terrorism" now than say three years ago?

13. Pretty sure thats what the Jews in Germany were saying as Hitler...
...was rounding up the trade unionists. I am sure in the 1930's some of them were saying "well, I have not lost any of my rights so why should I worry".

16. Martin Niemöller quote
When Hitler attacked the Jews I was not a Jew, therefore I was not concerned. And when Hitler attacked the Catholics, I was not a Catholic, and therefore, I was not concerned. And when Hitler attacked the unions and the industrialists, I was not a member of the unions and I was not concerned. Then Hitler attacked me and the Protestant church — and there was nobody left to be concerned.

17. Not exactly
The correct Niemoller quote is as follows: In Germany they came first for the Communists, and I didn't speak up because I wasn't a Communist. Then they came for the Jews, and I didn't speak up because I wasn't a Jew. Then they came for the trade unionists, and I didn't speak up because I wasn't a trade unionist. Then they came for the Catholics, and I didn't speak up because I was a Protestant. Then they came for me, and by that time no one was left to speak up.

15. Ask him if he has heard of or knows what's in the Patriot Act.
That question alone should suffice but if not ask him if he has ever heard of 1st Ammendment Zones.
