(Mobile, AL Register) Front page, top headline: Cautious cattlemen First cattle auction in Lucedale, MS, since discovery of mad cow disease in U.S. Only 1/3 the usual number of cows offered for sale. <yawn>
Below the fold headline: President blasts absent members No, not THAT pResident*. President of Mobile County School Board castigates two members who don't attend all of the meetings. <yawn>
Page 13A: Report: Pentagon auditors altered documents DOD Inspector General says internal Pentagon auditors spent 47 days "doctoring" files and reports, "engaged in just the kind of wasteful activity they are supposed to expose". "Certainly violates the spirit and intent of government auditing standards and rules on ethical conduct." Bidness as usual.:-(
Page 15A: O'Neill: War plans for Iraq started long before 9/11 Crawford, Texas - Former Treasury Secretary Paul O'Neill contends the United States began laying the groundwork for an invasion of Iraq just days after President Bush* took office in January 2001. Gee, no shi...uh...kidding?
Page 16A: While Democrats fight, Bush* acts presidential I think the operative word is "acts".
Glad we got our priorities straight down here.
What's on YOUR front page?

1. The O'Neill story got buried in the Chicago Tribune. |
|
There is a big front-page article on troops being rotated in and out of Iraq and Afghanistan.

5. I don't see the Pentagon story in our paper at all. |
|
I read our online paper, but I doubt they would put anything like that in the paper. Too many details. Like shrub, most people around here think they should have their news filtered by someone they trust(?).
The O'Neill story about Bush preparing for war since day one made the front page. I'm sure that will be interpreted positively, like Bush being prepared like a good boy scout.
