* Smacked Down by President
From Kos:
http://www.dailykos.com/story/2004/1/10/21127/0133

Quoting one of the Suskind/O'Neil articles:
"Suskind also writes about a White House meeting in which he says the president seems to be wavering about going forward with his second round of tax cuts. "Haven't we already given money to rich people ... Shouldn't we be giving money to the middle," Suskind says the president uttered, according to a nearly verbatim transcript of an Economic Team meeting he says he obtained from someone at the meeting."

Kos: "Wow. I wonder who put the smackdown on Bush for daring to question the wisdom of another round of tax cuts targeted to the rich. Probably Cheney."

*********

Interesting. As a poster said elsewhere, Bush has about as much power in the White House as the Laura.

2. I read that....if bush really said that, I have no doubt
he said it with his usual smirk. He cares as much about the middle as WalMart...zero.

You listen to Kevin Phillips (about the bush dynasty), and you'll see that chimpy isn't just a fluffy little play toy of the rich and famous. Shrub is dangerous, pure and simple.

:kick:

7. If he said it, it's only because he knows that the Middle Class votes.
And Diebold hasn't guaranteed to deliver every state to him in November.

BTW, who is Kevin Phillips?

3. If you read the transcript froom CBS, it was Rove and Cheney

Which correlates exactly with what many people have said about this administration not having any policies, just politics.

Fucking liars.

4. He never saw a tax cut
for the rich that he did not like.
I won't believe for a minute that he EVER had any concern for the middle class or below.
It goes against the grain of Republican thinking. This may be an attempt to paint the Chimp as a better person than he really is.

5. "Haven't we already given money to rich people"
~ that says a plenty ~ 'given' to rich people

I agree that if he said it, it was glib and with a smirk.

6. There was never any doubt...
he is a semi-live marionette and his string pullers direct him - with treats of (more) wealth and revenge and justice according to his standards of justice.

But who knows maybe he said it as a joke and O'Neill didn't see Bush's body laugh - where the shoulders and torso shake up and down and little laugh snorts are heard, but not real loud.
