I recall him being recommended by one of the bushco big boys for the Treasury secretary position. I thought it was Rumsfeld. Am I right??

According to Suskind's book, Cheney approached O'Neil about joining the administration. The two of them went way back to the Nixon administration days, working together and becoming friends so the implication was that Cheney must have suggested him for Treasury.

Yeah ..
But there are Republicans, and then there a Bushies.
There's Reagan and there is Bush. I know most people here probably don't like Reagan. But Bush is 5 times worse. Bush is 100% beholden to the Corporate Theocrats.
For all the Bumbler that we thought Gerald Ford was, we would much rather have Gerald Ford than George W Bush.

Cheney was the other one that I thought it might have been but it's been more than a year since I read anything more than a footnote about O'Neil.
