CNN - O'Neill commentary - "bush credibility is intact" --- Unbelievable
Edited on Sun Jan-11-04 10:42 PM by cthrumatrix
They feel that "as long as everything goes OK in Iraq -- then Bush is OK" -- even with the Paul O'Neil findings

Folks- this is our "libral media" suggesting it is OK to lie, ok to spill your sons/daughters blood for oil based on deceipt.

They clearly have received the WH marching orders of "ignore, deflect, diffuse"....this is our news source.

You would think they would be salivating over 19,000 pages of documents, in which some contradict the presidents words and motives for Iraq. No words of "let's investigate" or this really was damaging information.

They have shown thier stripes and should be bombarded with calls, letters, complaints for not having the courage to investigate the truth ad bring it forth.

On edit : Bill Schnider was the media whore expressing his pro bush views

I gotta hand it to the administration, they know how to manage propaganda.

It used to be about WMD, but once that was revealed to be a lie, the media whores started embracing the idea of "Well, at least Saddam is gone"

I am sick of this fucking bullshit. And now there are reports that financial documents from the Pentagon were doctored and or forged before the auditors came in???

Where the fuck is the outrage???

Oh yeah... September 11. War on Terror.

My bad. I almost forgot.

34. Totally Agree
I remember watching the debates with my husband, and we couldn't wait for the analysis that followed, as we felt Gore won. We were stunned, and have been ever since, to hear all the talking heads align with Bush. Only then did I realize our media was far from liberal. And it was then that I sought refuge on the Internet.

12. Yawn
Been there, done that. I swear, Karl Rove must put out these scandals about Bush just to get Democrats all worked up and distracted, then watch us wail our disbelief as no one cares.

People supported the invasion. They don't care that Bush thought of it a few months before he claimed he did, or that Bush misled the world as to why he went in. Hell, most Americans couldn't give you the current status on all the reasons Bush gave for the invasion in the first place.

CNN is part of the PR department of the Republican Party, no question, but in this, they are just stating the truth, and if we don't accept that, we'll just be whining about last week's scandal right on through Bush's re-appointment-- this time by actual election.

Want to win? Get our candidate to present a positive vision. "We are going the wrong way, what we should be doing it (fill in the blank)." People don't respond to whining about what a president gets away with. A lot of people just think all of Bush's tricks and lies are just leadership.

There's a definite echo of Reagan going on here.

36. Keep trying Bill... but the truth is out there... bush co started planning
to invade IRaq within weeks of coming into office... within months of avowing something very different to the public (eschewing "Nation Building")... And more than six months before 911. So unless they knew 911 was going to happen and knew that Iraq was going to be involved ... well - nah - you wouldn't want to say that. The thing is - there are documents that have come to light (before ONiell, btw so you can't claim leaking of docs) that demonstrate the post war Iraq Oil discussions.

Now - lets talk beyond the immorality of the action - and the immorality of preying on the citizens' fear after 911... and look at what lengths they had to go to in order to get their war... Well there was no intelligence to back up and give any rationale. But after 911... well now there was a reason.. there had been a real attack killing Americans on American soil. So the bush admin lumped in all into one action. Respond to 911... then use that response to go after Iraq as already planned. But still there was no intelligence.

So to attempt to remedy this situation... shortly after the fall of the Taliban... the US pulled intelligence out of Afghanistan (no wonder we can't find Osama, or the Head of the Taliban..) we started pulling military personnel out of Afghanistan... we refused pressure from other UN nations participating in Afghanistan who wanted to place peace keeping missions in teh country beyond Kabul to prevent the chaos and War Lordism to once again take root in Afghanistan (the precursor to the Taliban taking over in the later nineties)... As a result... Al Qeada has regrouped... IN AFGHANISTAN... The Taliban is exerting control in a few regions in Afghanistan.. and Osama Bin Laden still plots against the US, recruits and trains terrorists - somewhere in the border regions between Afghanistan and Pakistan.

So Bill - politically there is a consequence of this...

And heaven forbid there are REAL national security issues that have been greatly compromised as a consequence of this. Bill, if another attack happens (and remember members of THIS administration warn us that it is not "IF"... it is "WHEN")... that it is related to THIS STORY. So Stop treating us, the new consumers, as braindead children. WE get that this is BIG news. And we will remember that you don't give a damn about this country and the safety and liberty of its citizen nor about the democratic system that allowed us to become some a great nation.

Go Away Bill - you've done your damage... go take your pay off and get out of our sight.

39. Yes, never underestimate the "Uncomfortably Numb"
During the year 2003 a random trip to the local Barnes and Noble gave the average consumer the option of buying or browsing the following high-profile "tell-all" classics:

"Boy Genius," "Shrub," "Bushwhacked," "Bush's Brain," "Fraud: The Strategy Behind The Bush Lies And Why The Media Didn't Tell You," "The Lies Of George W. Bush," "Thieves In High Places," "Dude, Where's My Country" and "Lies And The Lying Liars Who Tell Them." The books enlightened some, enraged others, and made a lot of money for their authors, but somehow weren't the dose of "Crawford Kryptonite" that they promised to be.

Yesterday on CNN's "The Capital Gang," WSJ's Al Hunt offered this response to Tom Tancredo's criticism of Bush's "guest worker" program:

"Karl Rove's biggest priority is to get a bigger share of the Hispanic vote for George Bush this time. This is clearly going to help...Politically, it is a terrific winner, and George Bush is in such great shape with his base that he can have a simple message for the Tom Tancredos of the world: Drop dead. (LAUGHTER)"

Full transcript here:
http://www.cnn.com/TRANSCRIPTS/0401/10/cg.00.html

And let's not forget the dramatic finale to tonight's "60 Minutes" piece:

"White House spokesman Scott McClellan was asked about the book on Friday and said "The president is someone that leads and acts decisively on our biggest priorities and that is exactly what he'll continue to do." It's like Scott McClellan and Al Hunt called each other up and said "What are YOU going to wear to school today?"

I heard the 60 Minutes segment but I did not hear the fat lady sing.

It can best be summed up by an interview that aired yesterday with San Francisco Mayor Willie Brown, another flamboyant politician that some love and some hate, when asked about the biggest thing he learned from his tenure as in office: "I underestimated just how addictive power can be." He then announced his aspirations for the Senate, and perhaps one day the Presidency itself, which sent him into an uncontrollable fit of giggling.

Bush is a power addict, and he's got connections.

46. If the media complies... you are correct
the bushies want to treat this with silence and let it go away.

But if the media keeps it going - and it picks up steam... another story altogether. Because then the bushies have to DEFEND by stating...

"We were NOT planning this in March 2001..."

And of course, there is evidence already that backs that they WERE plotting and planning. The idea just never broke into the mainstream media... and the much of the public was too horrified by the suggestion that they chose to ignore not hear it.

So if they have to start defending - each time they do... they repeat the story. And they repeat others bringing up the evidence.

They do NOT want that little media cycle.

So chances are, overall the media will play ball with the Bushies, make very little over the story and hope it goes away. Indeed there was NO mention of the story in our local paper.

But - because it would be more than he said they said... this story remains to have the potential to shake some 'believers' in bush - to the core... and away from his presidency in disgust.

He has NO CREDIBILITY. none.

I followed his so-called commentary for a while, and he might as well just walk on camera, bend over, and ask Bush if he's ready to give it to him like he likes it.

He's one reason I totally lost interest in CNN, and a big reason why I have to go to news outlets from other nations to get any truth in reporting.

CNN has become a disgrace with him and Paula Zahn posing as anything other than Bush whores.

Did you check out the exerpts from Paula's interview with Joe Trippi on Eschaton?
