The pubs are making a big mistake |

by representing the Dems as "angry." Anger sells very well in American politics and those who object to it come off as whiners. Indeed, the Republican market is largely the "angry white guys" .. remember them?
Yes, we are angry, and we are out to kick some serious Republican posterior.

Give 'em enough rope to hang themselves.
I smell a backlash against the GOP.

2. Drill down into the argument. |
|
Reflect on it. Bounce the argument off of the O'Neill story. This argument is the construct of Desperate and Swinish Men. The "Anger" and "Political Hate Speech" drumbeat is intended to obfuscate and diminuate the real issues that face them. The media, being a bunch of pompous and lazy asses, afraid to write anything that will offend an administration that wields access like a Sword of Damocles, prints anything Gillespie and Rove throw against the wall and sticks.
Right now, considering the state of the country, economically, and Operation Desert Clusterfuck, anger is appropriate. In fact, I think that not being angry is outside of societal norms and, thus, worthy of concerns for the state of the mental health of those not angered.

With damn good reason. Yes, anger works and is, indeed, most highly respected by the Sheeple.
Witness the Iraqi invasion -- supported by 90% of the People at the time of the invasion -- it sure wasn't an act of Love, was it? It was pure anger which drove the American People to allow the Lynch-Mob to Shock and Awe the poor Iraqi people.
Never apologize for your anger, dear progressives, you have every right to be pissed. Let us just make sure that we do not piss into the wind. Better that the right target be drowned.

5. The media's attempt to decide the race has not worked |
|
The numbers that Edwards and more to the point Clark have been getting show that our Dem bretheren out their are not letting the media decide this. Good for them.

7. Put Doubt In Their Heads... |
|
Last evening I ran into a Bushbot in a chat room...a moderate type...nice guy loaded with the usual lies and fears.
After letting him spew about how great it was we got Saddam and how we need to keep on with the "war on terror", I asked him a simple question: "What threat was Saddam". Of course he went through the litany of 9/11 lies, of which I said, "did you know these have been denied by both bush & Colin Powell?"...nope he didnt'. Next was the usual Clinton shit of how * had to do the job Clinton didn't and I reminded him of "wag the dog"...he remembered...and then where's Osama? I could see he was getting ready to hit the panic switch...use the typical dittohead rhetoric (liberal media, conspiracy nuts, etc), but I made my own "pre-emptive strike"...I asked him do do a little looking himself.
After playing back and forth with topics like the economy (asked him how he's doing compared to three years ago...he's had three job changes...less pay...slam dunk), do you feel this government really is looking out for you (got into tax cuts and then cited O'Neill...nice to have that ammo for that purpose...like Stockman's refuting of Raygunomics) and defecits...again,I suggested he go beyond the Faux/Hate Radio/USA Today filter and get different perspectives...suggesting Buzzflash as a good starting point.
I finished up by saying he didn't have to believe me, but he's been duped...and those of us who question have to be on to something to have all this hatred thrown our way. I could almost see him scratching his head.
Anger will work if channeled in a positive way. I'm very hopeful that once the ticket is set that the Democrats will unify and focus that anger behind which ever candidate and embrace all others who have been affected by it. This is going to be one person at a time...patience to get through the years of implanted rhetoric, and then to gain confidence to start the thinking process. I've been doing this a lot lately as the hypocrisy of this regime and the Right Wing becomes too obvious to ignore.
Cheers
