Media ignore another huge story!
The O'Neill story is on page 11 of the NY Times today. Yawn. This story had 20 seconds on NPR radio. Yawn wider. And you'll wonder in November why Bush is a shoo-in.....

WHERE IS THE OUTRAGE at the media? In this ignored story, the US Army War College blasted Bush's inroad into Iraq:

"Study Published by Army Criticizes War on Terror's Scope - A scathing new report published by the Army War College broadly criticizes the Bush administration's handling of the war on terrorism, accusing it of taking a detour into an "unnecessary" war in Iraq and pursuing an "unrealistic" quest against terrorism that may lead to U.S. wars with states that pose no serious threat...."

1. I don't get it either
O'Neill's credibility is significant given his resume and reputation. If Clinton were accused of these things, essentially engineering this country to an invasion of Iraq on false pretense, he'd be impeached. The Repubs this morning would be screaming for his head.

I just don't get it.

4. Call me crazy, but I think I know why
The reality that our country has been hijacked by a small group of rich-white men with plans for American Imperial Domination of the planet.

Reality and the, "It could never happen here," mentality blind people. It hurts to much to beleive that this is true, it's easier to just ignore.

10. the myth of a liberal media...
The media has become the lapdog of the administration. Nothing, absolutely NOTHING that would Bush in a bad light is told to the public - unless it is accompanied by some spin to whitewash the facts.

So what eles is new???

11. What is there not to get my friend?
It's the media stupid! The media has decided that they will not, under any circumstances, hold Bush and his thugs accountable for ANYTHING. Bush could murder his mother on video and the media and Repubs will say it had to do with protecting us. Now once there is a Dem in the WH, all bets are off. 30 year old land deals will once again become big stories and will dominate the news everyday!

2. Didn't even make it into our local paper.
Serious story - with documentation. Story that is consistent with other reports. Story that damns this adminstration. And a story that doesn't break into the mainstream local print media? The press seems to be asleep at the wheel.

5. Our lib'rul media is hard at work
Ignoring another important story

I posted this in another discussion, now sliding off the page, but this is what I found earlier this morning. These are the lead stories on various news sites.

ABC is excited about the possibilities of Lunar Living
Fox is also reporting on attacks on Dean
MSNBC is on with a story about Fox's support for Bush's illegals plan
The LA Times leads with a story on the Iranian election
WP has the Dean story
Boston Globe has the Fox/Shrub meeting
CSM has an update on the Enron case
Philly Daily news is happy about the Eagles win, O'neill is #5 in the also ran stories
The Houston Chronicle has the story of a policeman being shot, while under national news it leads with a Michael Jackson story
NYTimes has poor hopes for the Fox/Bush summit and talks about Dem debates

While Google News shows 523 links to O'Neill stories, they are listed FAR down the page, under More Top Stories. If I understand a bit of their algorithm, this probably means lots of stories, but not in their highest rated sources, and/or buried farther down the page. They also appear to be mostly not from US news media.

First page of google news hits on the O'Neill story - this is where the story is being told:

7. That's a laugh...
The only people who seem to be interested in this story are those from countries other than the USA. Odd, considering how little international news we actually hear in the US...

13. Chicago Tribune doesn't even mention it
It has an article about the O'Neill interview, but only mentioned the part about the deficits, and that was on page 9. There was no mention about wanting to go after Saddam from day one. But there was a nice article about fluorescent fish on page 1.

6. Ignoring the elephant in the room...
It's truly unbelievable that there isn't more outrage! The part that I think was most interesting was the plot to overturn Saddam and that they were making lists of possible companies all around the world to pick up the subsequent Iraqi oil contracts - BEFORE 9/11. You'd think people would be angry for being misled about this greed under the guise of patriotism; instead it doesn't seem like they really seem to care.

We've been lied to for so long that even when the truth is right in front of us, it's difficult to believe anything but the "alternative reality." "Wag the Dog," anyone?

8. This is driving me crazy, the story is all over the overseas press
We need to ALL write and call every news outlet we can. We need to hold these supposed journalists accountable. Tell them we want to know the truth. What else does O'Neill have to say. What evidence does he have. Have they checked the 19,000 documents.

9. My local paper had the story Front page Yesterday
Here's the LTTE is sent in last night .

Paul O'neil's Revalations:

Bush's reckless distraction to Iraq has endangered America here at home.
According to Paul O'neil ; Bush at a Cabinet meeting 10 days after taking
office was focussed on invading Iraq and Stated "go find me a way to do this" . Invading
Iraq had nothing to do with making America safer let alone 911 . O'neil also cites a
Pentagon document dated 3/5/01 called "Foreign Suitors for Iraqi Oilfield Contracts".

Yes Clinton Lied and he was impeached because of it . Bush lied too and the sooner
we as American Patriots deal with this Liar the better.

2 percent of our ports are secure . In Iraq our sons and our daughters blood is being
spilt for the profit of a few based on a lie at the cost of 500+ lives 2800+ wounded
and 160 billion tax dollars so far . I'm all for keeping America Safe , but this guy
Bush isn't doing a very good job of it .

I support our Troops, Veterans , The U.S. Constitution, and The American People .
I Shout out loud that Bush is a great deciever and is destroying America ,
he's gutted our Treasury , cut Veterans Benefits , Cut housing/medical benefits to our
Troops and tried to cut their Combat pay . His PATRIOT ACT and The Pre-emptive
war are blatantly Contra Constitutional . The outsourcing of American jobs, and
Rape of Clean Air Standards are not Pro-America . Polluters don't have clean up
their messes anymore . I'd like to know just what is so great about States and Cities
having to pay for toxic waste and pollutant spills cleanup instead of the polluting Companies ?

Stand Up For America Vote Bush Out

Proud Patriot

12. I sent the story to my local radio talk show host...I got this reply:
"I haven't read this yet. The morning show talked some about it and ABC had an early story on it. There may be more to this then meets the eye. Dave"

(Dave Elswick, KARN, Little Rock, Arkansas)

I'm going to stay on him until I hear him discuss it. He's conservative, but fair.
