W & aides broadcast media hate
He didn't free the slaves.

He didn't rid the world of Hitler.

He didn't even - like his father - preside over the destruction of the Berlin Wall.

Yet George W. Bush tells New Yorker writer Ken Auletta: "No President has ever done more for human rights than I have."

With stunners like that, no wonder he spends so little time with journalists.

The President's eyebrow-raising assertion comes during some Oval Office chitchat after Auletta - writing about the testy relations between the Bush White House and the news media - sits in on an interview with a British newspaper reporter.

1. He really meant "No President has done more to suppress human
rights than I have." (Everyone knows how much trouble he has with the English language.)

2. The ol' doe-eyed innocence act of the press is wearing thin
Edited on Mon Jan-12-04 11:13 AM by jpgray
They act as if "context" is some brave new thing in journalism. They will report straight-faced whatever a WH spokesman says, no matter if they have reported on hard facts debunking that same statement as recently as a few days beforehand.

Our press is owned and run by profit. Exposing the lies and corruption of a corporate friendly administration is just never going to be profitable.

3. He needs medication
It is obvious that Bush has suffered some type of psychic break. The only thing that can save us is if someone in the White House actually comes forward and exposes the fact that the president is insane.

5. Holy cow! Ever since he came on the scene I have pictured
him ending up like the president Martin Sheen played in "The Dead Zone" and I am more worried than ever. Maybe he won't be babbling and paranoid and about to push the button, but he might do something just as crazy.

8. Calamity, funny you should say that...
I've had the same flash about shrub ending up like the guy in "The Dead Zone" that you've had. I see him grabbing a baby and holding it up to ward off....anything! Crazy!

9. He prays face down on the floor of the Oval Office, who does that?
And he thinks God wants him as the president. He is obvously a meglomaniac.

"In the soon-to-be-published The Faith of George W. Bush (Tarcher/Penguin), a sympathetic account of this religious journey, author Stephen Mansfield writes (in the advance proofs) that in the election year 2000, Bush told Texas preacher James Robison, one of his spiritual mentors: "I feel like God wants me to run for president. I can't explain it, but I sense my country is going to need me. . . . I know it won't be easy on me or my family, but God wants me to do it."

Mansfield also reports: "Aides found him face down on the floor in prayer in the Oval Office. It became known that he refused to eat sweets while American troops were in Iraq, a partial fast seldom reported of an American president. And he framed America's challenges in nearly biblical language. Saddam Hussein is an evildoer. He has to go." The author concludes: " . . . the Bush administration does deeply reflect its leader, and this means that policy, even in military matters, will be processed in terms of the personal, in terms of the moral, and in terms of a sense of divine purpose that propels the present to meet the challenges of its time.""

4. Ohmigod. Did he really say that? Zero knowledge of history.
The man has no knowledge - none - of American history, and no curiousity about it. The statement is also revealing of a megalomaniac's ego, and why he will not accept electoral defeat. The danger grows by the day.

That "human rights" statement is not only false, it's stunningly arrogant.

seriously--he is mentally ill and suffers from delusions of grandeur. It will get worse and it will be his downfall-amongst other things.

What an ultramaroon. He doesn't read the press, so why should he be coherent when speaking to the press?
