what does Suskind think of the concentration on ONeill, not his book? |
|
what does anyone here think, for that matter?
does it take the spotlight off the substance of his book, of which ONeill's revelations are only a part (large part?)
he interviewed hundreds of people, right?
among them other high ranking junta officials, none of whom, besides ONeill, would go on the record.
Is it a good thing for the spotlight to be on ONeill, or will this focus serve the pugs' desire to obscure the real issues presented; those of constant admin mendacity, corruption, fecklessness?
so far, it's all about ONeill, his credibility, his disgruntlement, his possible criminality, re: taking "possibly classified" documents with him.
Will this sideshow allow Suskind to make his points in a less personally hostile environment, with ONeill taking the heat, while the book itself, sheds the light?
do you think Suskind/ONeill/publisher thought about this in advance?

1. Any publicity can only be good for Suskind and his book. |
|
I am sure that both Suskind and O'Neil were advised by lawyers and experts on what they could or could not say in the book. I am sure that they have their butts well covered.

2. Oh I think Suskind is salivating. |
|
O'Neill is going to sell so many books for him, what's not to like?

I wasn't even thinking of it in those terms.
duhhhhhhh
I was looking at it from the perspective of the effects it would have on getting the truth out about this pack of lying, treasonous, kleptocrats.
at long last
thanks for the dose of reality
I hope Suskind at least has some concerns along those lines.
that said, it would be interesting to find out exactly what ONeill's motivations are.
I saw the sick man thread.
hope, if that's true, he can hang on long enough to get his point across.
after that, the publicity will, I hope, keep up the public interest

5. "Sick Man" is pure speculation |
|
This guy had a plan to down the Bush empire and is executing it so perfectly it's incredible.
And I agree with O'neill, what he's saying is purely factual.
And he's also right that there's nothing they can do to hurt him.
All you are hearing now are is the scratching of fingernails on coffin lids.
