O'Neill will face investigation
Edited on Mon Jan-12-04 09:04 PM by candy331
for possible secret document shown on CBS last night. How will they explain the stalling of the leak of the CIA agent? Surely they can't be swift in investigating this trumphed up secret document while still stalling the on outed CIA agent. Who in their right mind would believe the had the actual document there for CBS to see. Will the DOJ with Ashcroft bring out the full force to investigate this one? A smoke screen is all it is, too bad the Democrats are so busy beating each other up to seize the moment.

1. I hope some Democract
seizes the moment and picks up on it. I still don't get why O'Neil could face charges. Bush should face charges for what he's done to our country.

2. If there are secret documents missing,
shouldn't people in the Bush administration have figured it out by now? This just seems too convenient.

3. This may be the only way to get some documents out in the public
Maybe others who are on the inside and who despize what is happening to our nation will come forth. They can't lock everybody up and pretty soon the activists will take to the streets.

4. Famous last words of O'Neil on 60 Minutes: "Why should I be afraid if
telling the truth?"

Never tempt providence or the BFEE.

5. This is all they can do, and they know it.
They can't off him... It would be too obvious. That leaves trying to discredit him and putting up a smoke screen. If they call him a liar, then they know it's a losing battle because there are other sources that prove him right (PNAC documents, for one). THAT leaves the smokescreen, which is also not guaranteed to silence the talk. They're desperate, which is why this happened so fast.

I hope we're all not wrong on it... I had my doubts initially... but because of the franticness of this "investigation," I think this may at last be the catalyst.

I smell the blood in the water this time....

8. Neutralize through character assasination
The "secret document leak" is pretty weak, and they won't be blowing that horn for too long because of the Plame incident. I agree with you that outright killing would be too obvious, although I wouldn't be a bit surprised if one or two of his relatives and friends have unfortunate heart attacks/drug overdoses/suicides in the next month -- just a warning shot across the bow, ya know.

That leaves public discrediting. They mananged it pretty well with Scott Ritter, pulling him into that sex sting. He was 100% correct on the issue of Iraq's disarmament, but after the arrest he was the proverbial poisoned well. So I wonder what dirt the cabal has on O'Neil.

Sex scandal always works, but he may be weak on some Alcoa accounting matter. Yup, that'd be the first angle I'd try: run a fine-toothed audit on everything Alcoa for the last 20 years, pin all irregularities on O'Neil.

6. Just Paul's luck
He provides the author with 19,000 documents, and the one CBS shows on TV just happens to be enough for the right wing justice department to convict him.

9. All the 2004Dems should have a joint press conference on this.
Edited on Mon Jan-12-04 09:51 PM by billbuckhead
Would be great on C-Span, they'd be forced to show a least soundbites on cable news. Maybe if all nine of them pounded and extolled at one time all together about one Bush crime, it would tip the balance and reveal the king is naked behind a Wizard of OZ curtain.. They could be like Klingons all howling together. It's time the Bushgang realized they are going to lose and they are going to be treated as war criminals

13. Hmmmm....
But in another thread, it's mentioned that some 'pub conspiracy theorist said that the document seen on 60 Minutes document had been released because of a Judicial Watch lawsuit relating to the Cheney Energy Task Force.

This is like the misdirection when they say, "we were following Clinton's plan". What I took from O'Neil's statements was that Bush was saying, "Find me a way to justify invading Iraq", NOT "figure out a strategic plan".

For every scandal, spin, spin, spin...

ANYBODY BUT BUSH 2004

videotape, smoking gun, sionara Mr ONeill.

11. I'm waiting for someone...
... here to claim that O'Neill was a willing dupe to get the hopes up of those who are against Bush only to have them crushed again. Has anyone floated that one yet?

14. I seriously doubt O'Neill is surprised by the repercussions
He isn't stupid. Could be he has an ace up his sleeve, too. And remember, there are others who spoke to Suskind, and maybe they are friends of Paul. If Paul is seen as being persecuted, it may tempt them to say "Enough of this bullshit" and come forward, too.

bushco is playing a dangerous game of chicken.

15. The big, bad "secret document"
that everybody is fussing about is nothing more than the COVER SHEET to the real secret document that O'neill does not have. The COVER SHEET, however, proves that the real secret document does, indeed, exist. No harm, no foul. Much ado about nothing. Smoke and mirrors.

PLEASE (please, please, please) start handing these out and keep the 'buzz' on the streets going. "The People" deserve the Truth (even if the WH wants to spin it and the media goes along with the sick joke) and the polls show an obvious psychological receptivity that we MUST utilize to OUR advantage.. Do your neighbors a favor and let 'em in on everything we at DU have been wanting to shout from the rooftops......

PNAC, The White House, and Iraq
