I don't share the disdain that some DUers have for Imus, but I have been sadly disappointed by the free pass he has so far given to Bush. Now that worm is beginning to turn. The ship is foundering and Bush will find himself with fewer and fewer supporters. I honestly believe that this issue may have legs.

3. Comments like that are completely uncalled for.
I hope anyone who heard Imus will inundate him with email. I don't get Imus, so I couldn't hear it to comment on it. Thast's so rude.

4. I didn't hear it either, but I agree with you.
Comments about the candidate's appearance are uncalled for, but to bring in a spouse is over the top.

5. Or to insult their children
I get very uncomfortable when some at DU attack Bush's wife and kids. We didn't like it with Hillary and Chelsea, and we shouldn't accept it when it comes from our side of the fence.

11. No use emailing Imus --
He's a very wealthy egomaniac, and emails would be ignored or viciously ridiculed. He's more intelligent and informed than most shock-jocks, but his shock-jock humor will include jokes about Dean's height and his wife. His remarks about the Clintons are stomach-turning and frequent.

I watch him sometimes because when he's not worshiping Bush, he can be funny, and because he interviews some interesting people (Frank Rich, for example). His comments this morning about the "wheels coming off" the Bush administration, and Bush and his people as "murderers" of our kids in Iraq, are, however, new and significant. He's heard by a lot of people.

7. A Hobbit? In Vermont?
Say it ain't so!

FYI - I LIKE that pic. Judy dresses like me(!) but I bet she can doll up as much as anyone when she's of a mind.

The only people who buy Prada & Donna Karen in Vermont are the people who shop at the outlets when they're in for skiing/leaf-peeping, etc.

I didn't hear his comments, but I don't see anything to make fun of going on with this picture.  She's dressed fine. Poor Nancy Reagan should take notes (actually I don't know how Nancy dresses now, but remember all the $ she used to waste on clothes, etc.?). Was it a quick, casual comment, or did he go on and on? I wouldn't get too put out about it, everyone gets pounded eventually on that show. It's his genre, he's not telling knock-knock jokes. Put a blank wall in front of him and you'll hear the wall described in ways that make Tolkien references seem like, well, Tolkien references. Imus has been called everything in the book for years by his rival Stern. Things could be and will be worse. Hope everybody's ready for the eventual deluge. Just be glad Willie Horton wasn't somehow worked into the photo. Gotta be prepared for the eventual Wall Street Journal articles about the people she killed for the Clintons when she was younger ("Burlington's Doctor Death"), her video with Paris Hilton that is an "open secret", etc.. We're gonna hear it all. :tinfoilhat: :eyes: :nopity:

So he has the right to be critical.

What if Dr. Steinberg were one of the physicians treating the children Imus invites to his ranch? Does he routinely comment on their appearance (men's in particular)?

However, I am glad to hear that he is starting to concern himself with the truth about the current administration.

6. Imus is an opportunist who would bash any president.
Before DUers marry him, they ought to consider what he will say about our guy in a few months or after he wins.

12. The worm is not turning
"Imus calls Powell, Cheney, and Bush 'The murderers in Washington'."

Imus fairly regularly bashes Bush, but then goes on to say that he supports him and that the Democratic candidates are liberal wimps.

The "worm is turning" threads are getting beyond old. Politics doesn't work that way. The proverbial worm is never going to turn in an obvious way.

Imus will continue to bash Bush periodically, but he will always attack Democrats even worse.

The election will be a dogfight. I doubt if we will really have a sense of how it will turn out until a couple weeks before the actual vote. This is a long haul and we have to be patient and stop thinking every little story in the media is some kind of dramatic up or down. What Imus has to say is almost completely irrelevent to what will happen in November.
