Rumor mill.. 2 year military tours
I was speaking with a friend who is an active reserve member. He recently returned from his tour of "terror duty" and I ask how it went. He was lucky in his assignment(cushy at best). We started talking about tour lengths and he stated the latest rumor is military reservist's were going to be gone for TWO YEARS.

That's right folk, TWO YEAR TOURS!! I bet that get's our troops motivated..

1. To cut down on PTSD
Vietnam soldiers were limited to 1 year of combat duty-- 13 months for the macho Marines. And many of them still came back psychologically scarred for life. Imagine what TWO years will do to the psyche.

But who cares-- they are all expendable!

2. With a military divorce rate of....80%?
Their kids will be society's responsibility, yet society will have no money to spend on health, education, housing, and job training.

Plan on even greater incarceration rates in the US than we already have.

3. I don't doubt it...my friend was just called up for 18 months at least
She said that she will be gone for 18 months at the minimum. Her husband had already been called up and was in Iraq. Their two small children are living with her mother until they get back. If they get back.

She agrees...it's all for nothing.
