Former RNC leader Haley Barbour being sworn in now as MS Governor
And you have never seen a whiter crowd than that one on the capitol grounds in Jackson, Mississippi. Trent Lott's there, Thad Cochran's there. Chip Pickering's there.

I see NO African-Americans in the crowd--NONE. In case you didn't know, Barbour claimed to have the support of many black leaders, as well as many Mississippi Democrats, but I see NO blacks there today.

It looks like a 1950s Dixiecrat convention.

3. The pope should arrive at any moment for the Royal Coronation
But I have better things to do than watch-scrubbing the toilet and watching Star Trek TNG reruns...

4. *&$%#@ criminal

From lounging on a yacht taking bribes from the communist Chinese, to the governorship of Mississippi. It's the Repug way, baby.

8. Just tuned in
I see a very small number, MAYBE 2-3% at best. Not real impressive in a state that is 36% black.

12. I've seen 4 black people in the crowd of THOUSANDS and those
were elected officials--judges--who were obligated to be there.

Kenneth Stokes isn't there. :-)

15. Jackson is about 70% black actually
Isn't it wild? He doesn't need them to win so why bother...

God bless Ronnie Musgrove-he was not perfect but he worked very, very hard for education and performed a miracle for the public school teachers of the state with decent pay raises. Now that Barbour and Tuck are running the show, look for them to be rescinded due to "severe economic distress". If so, look for an EXODUS from the public school system. I know many, many teachers with 25-30 years service and if they don't get that promised raise, they're gone.

Never mind that we could afford a coronation fit for a Holy Roman Emperor, stretching out for days all over the state...

16. I know...I will be leaving the state as soon as I get the parchment
Outta here. Not gonna stick around and wait for things to get better.

What will happen to social services in this state?
Medical care?

I am scared to death of the changes that are coming.

9. You are so hateful JChild!
I see at least two black highway patrolmen working security! And there'll be hundreds of blacks at the ball tonight: parking cars, checking in furs, cooking, serving and cleaning. Haley Barbour's version of "inclusion".

You know, the JOBS welfare-to-work program.

God help our state.

17. So sorry for Mississippi
that you have to put up with Halley Barbour for 4 years. :-(

On the bright side, he shuts up on the national stage for 4 years. Y'all keep him tied up down there while we try to change the cast on the national stage.

18. Don't count on it,
His mouth, his ego and his belly are big enough to take in all America while he and his minions destroy this little state. There's not that much to loot here-they'll have it all after a couple of years.
