8. I'm glad C-SPAN is showing his speech.
I was watching on CNN. They showed a couple minutes of Kennedy's speech, then the whores cut away to have U.S. Commerce Secretary Donald Evans do a spin job on the speech before Kennedy is even done speaking. Evans said the war is going great, Bremer is doing a great job, world is a better place, blah, blah, blah.

When we restore democracy, the whore media should be tried for war crimes along with the rest of these thugs.

13. Do you think this is another news blackout? Deny any opportunity for
debate, deny before people hear the truth, obfuscate and misinform?

They are so successful at this because the corporate media...

It is a sad time for America, and I don't see glimmers of hope. Unless people on the web act as news disseminators in a major way.

15. we need a truth and reconciliation commission
and I agree, the media should be a big part of it. Put them on the stand and be made to answer for their complicity.

23. I agree, it was all laid out point by point in a well prepared speech.
The audience looked well educated, interested and absorbed and was indeed taken in by this sober, powerful speech.

14. snip from the speech
<snip>
President Bush said it all when a television reporter asked him whether Saddam actually had weapons of mass destruction, or whether there was only the possibility that he might acquire them. President Bush answered, "So what's the difference?" The difference, Mr. President, is whether you go to war or not.

No President of the United States should employ misguided ideology and distortion of the truth to take the nation to war. In doing so, the President broke the basic bond of trust between government and the people. If Congress and the American people knew the whole truth, America would never have gone to war.

To remain silent when we feel so strongly would be irresponsible. It would betray the fundamental ideals for which our troops are sacrificing their lives on battlefields half a world away. No President who does that to this land we love deserves to be re-elected.
</snip>

16. Everyione read that SPEECH!!
This is it folks. The end of BushCo.

After the recent revalations anyone in Bush's circle who EVER wants to work in washington again is going to turn on him like a pack of rabid dogs.

Kennedy was very meticulous in setting up Wolfowitz,Cheney, Rumsfeld and Rove as the driving force behind the idiot in chief.

Now evidence that GW was not clever at all. He is now a simple bumpkin manipulated by viscious idealouges. It may even come down to a purely evil maipulation by Dick Cheney to bolster Halliburton's stock. Up from $9 in July 2002 to $28 now.

Cheney manipulated Bush by recommneding Rumsfeld and Wolfowitz as the defense team knowing they would press for an Iraq invasion at all costs.

Bush can kiss goodbye 2004.

I urge all DUers to write senators and house reps even if they are GOP and urge them to press the President for the removal of Wolfowitz, Rumsfeld, Rove and Cheney from his administrations. With those men removed Bush will be forced to resign or be impeached.

Powell can take over for the remaining term.

It is time.

I really appreciate it.

I'd love to be able to listen to him on C-SPAN! He can really lift spirits, and some of us need that badly...

Alas, I'm one of those "poor people" on another thread without basics like cable...

Thanks again!

Kanary, off to write a thankyou to Teddy......

I couldn't find a time it would air again on CSPAN. Excellent, excellent speech. I sent it to everyone I know and also to the local paper imploring them to print it. If this could get to the people, bush would be gone. Bless Ted Kennedy!

20. WOW. Go Ted!
You know, every time he opens his mouth he speaks like a true Statesman. He may have made some really stupid mistakes in his past, but this man has earned my admiration and respect so deeply. I'm sending this to everyone I know, and asking them to call their representatives and senators and ask them to speak up and stand with Ted. it's time. it's long overdue.

21. Fox News interrupted it with Republican spin...
Fox News played about two minutes of this...I was glued to the set...and interrupted him to bring on a Republican congressman (sorry, did not catch his name...younger guy with a southern accent). His "fair and balanced spin" was that two thirds of the American people support Bush and what he is doing and if the Democrats want to "draw a line in the sand" and use the content of Kennedy's speach as a platform, that's a good thing. They'll impress a lot of people in Iowa and New Hampshire and then lose the election when the aforementioned two thirds of America comes out to vote.

After profusely thanking the congressman for his valuable input, Fox continued to roll the live Kennedy speech...with no sound...while the commentator recapped the two minutes they did air ("Senator Kennedy, live, attacking the Bush administration")...

I hope that it makes it onto the Lou Dobbs show this afternoon.

24. He Was Outstanding!
Facts, conclusions, and outright castigation of the administration as liars. Yes, he used the word lies! He stated that the lies in the SOTU were the worst offense in SOTU history. (Paraphrasing, not quoting.) He also said Iraq was the worst foreign policy decision in U.S. history.

No punches pulled. Not even a little.
The Professor
