Hasn't it been reported that Bush does not even read the newspapers??
And he has said in interviews that his advisors tell him what is in the papers that might be important. If that is true, why would anyone expect him to read a 2" thick briefing book every night? Isn't Lawrence Lindsey lying out of his ass when he attacked O'Neil today and said that Bush got his 2" briefing paper every night? Was he the only person that did not know that Bush does not read? He has no intellectual curiosity. A person that does not read is a huge risk to have in the WH - especially if he is pretending to be the president.
Shouldn't someone mention to Lindsey that his BS line is not selling?

12. It's not pride in stupidity
...as much as it is a sense of entitlement. He's "entitled" to have smarter people around him, paid to do his thinking for him. He's "entitled" to work only 4 hours a day, because he pays other people to put in the 14 to 16 hour days it takes to read the reports and boil down the information. He's "entitled" to let his mind wander during meetings, because he is far too important to have to listen to the chatter of these underlings he's hired.

He's been "entitled" all his life, from skating on everything he's been charged with and having the records sealed or "lost," to not having to put in the whole 4 years of National Guard service (that's for lesser men), to having his father call in favors from his buddies on the supreme court to throw him the presidency.

The apparent anti-intellectualism he's seemingly honed to a fine art is just his sense of entitlement to a mind uncluttered with both curiosity and fact.

George W. himself said in an interview that he doesn't read the newspapers because newspapers are biased, but his advisors aren't.

He had frequent criticisms of * lack of experience, especially with economic policy. Unfortunately for O'Neill, most of what * learned economically came from Lindsay and this book makes him (Lindsay) look a complete idiot.

9. I bet he's obsessed with them
The fact that he dismissed them in his "I don't read" speech more than likely means he can't stop reading them, or more probable, someone reads them to him.

10. Dubya the Dense
I appreciate people's opinions, but I'm more interested in news. And the best way to get the news is from objective sources. And the most objective sources I have are people on my staff who tell me what's happening in the world.
