let's tell CBS to REJECT the MoveOn.org ad |
|
seriously.
it is the BEST case scenerio.
the publicity will assure that EVERYONE sees the ad over and over and over again. MSNBC has already played it uninterrupted (Scarborough last night with symbolman)
not only will MoveOn get to keep the 1.6M to put towards other projects, but the ad will exponentially more airplay. it will be discussed. it will be compared with genuinely 'hateful' political advertising... and be found utterly benign.
the right will be forced to argue the content.
there will be exposure/curiosity about the other ads.
it's win/win for us.
put on your freeper hats and tell CBS to stand tough and reject any questioning of saint george.
even CBS will be forced to cover a story that they've created.
it's utterly Rovian and about time we played hardball.
so, please. CBS, reject the ad. you will turn 1.6M for a one-time broadcast into 100s of M in FREE exposure.
just MHO

Interesting.
Will it be talked about at all, though?
This is the question. Will anyone even cover it if it CBS decides not to show it?
Although, it would be fun to send CBS a ton of sycophantic emails about how any criticism of Bush is treasonous and illegal.

6. it would definitely become a story |
|
i believe.
there would be HUGE curiosity to see that ad... no matter which side you are on. the right will want to see how HATEFUL AND EXTREME the left is and the left will want to see what 'free speech' and dissent is being suppressed.

The networks are looking for an excuse not to run anti-Bush ads. Don't give it to them!

5. Good point. What if your emails convince CBS not only to |

Good point. What if your emails convince CBS not only to refuse to run MoveOn ads during the Super Bowl, but also at any other time?

7. it will make CBS the center of a huge story about the media |
|
political advertising, suppression of free speech, etc.
CBS will have to back down.
and the MoveOn ads would be seen everywhere w/o spending a penny.

10. I disagree. As a mother, it strikes at all my fears about what * is doing |

to this country. Outsourcing jobs, huge deficits, essentially pushing down wages with his immigration policy, the jobs that are out there suck. I think it is very good in a "don't go negative" way.

The idea is to show the ad to people who don't spend their time surfing political sites - TV Zombies. You gotta go where they are. Publicity won't help much either with them because they don't watch the news, just reality shows and sports.

12. i'm talking about the winning ad |
|
the People Choice AND the Jury Winner. "Child's Pay" the one they are trying to get on CBS during the SuperBowl.
what made you think I was referring in ANY way to the Bush/Hitler submissions? no one is trying to pay CBS to air them...
 very odd

13. This ad needs to run, it's probably the best political ad ever... |
|
It plays to the proper market, the undecided. It's not for REAL democrats, they don't need an ad, they know who they're voting for; it's not for REAL republicans, they won't be swayed by any sort of advertising, having 'teeth' won't make any difference to them. The only voters these ads are effective with are those poor souls who can't make up their minds, an ad with 'teeth' will drive away as many of those people as it convinces, with a net gain of zero. The "Child's Pay" ad is just subtle enough to make those folks think, they will come to the conclusion that the ad speaks truth and they will make the proper decision not because of a hard sell advertisement, but because they came to that conclusion all on their own. Well, that's what they will think, this is the only kind of ad that can have that effect. It's regretable that the fate of the country lies with these 'fence-sitters', but we've seen how important their votes can be. The battle will hinge on whether they can be won over with logic and reason or if they will fall prey to the "fear of a firey death" message the other side will be using.
