Wow! Network News Coverage of Atlanta Protests! |
|
Edited on Thu Jan-15-04 06:42 PM by nostamj
CBS did a long segment that was bluntly anti-Bush. film of the demonstrators clearly showing the buses used to block. reported that the chanting COULD be heard by * during the photo op.
they called it a photo op and pointed out that he was on his way to a million dollar fund raiser. gave time to video of protest leaders and... and stated in NO UNCERTAIN TERMS that it was the WH, not the organizers who were behind the visit.
the ABC segment was shorter, but also showed the protests more than the chimp and made many of the same points!
you just have to watch Rather these days.
on edit: if NBC covered it, I missed it. was surfing all three evening news broadcasts. did anyone see anything on NBC????

1. I'm willing to bet the best coverage will be on BET news. |
|
Only watched a couple of times but they were real good. A lot better than anything else on cable. This will likely be their lead story.

5. I was surprised at the TV coverage. Usually they whore for him. |
|
These clips from a story at Yahoo News don't sound good for him: "Bush go home" and "peace not war" the protesters shouted from behind a barrier of parked buses across the street from King's grave. .... The president placed the wreath, bowed his head for a few moments, and departed without speaking or facing the protesters as the boos from the crowd increased.............The protesters carried signs with slogans like "Money for jobs and housing, not war" and "It's not a photo-op George." ............Bush is scheduled to attend $1.3 million fund-raiser for his re-election campaign.....

Good to see not only the protest itself, but the coverage. AND not only just coverage, in and of itself, but also coverage that seems fairly truthful! Refreshing! Hope it continues.

i am glad to hear CNN actually covered it though!
i hope and i pray this is a turning point and that future protestors will challenge the FAZs.
* is a craven coward and hateful opportunist. today put those facts front and center.
a hateful warmonger trying a photoshop at the grave of MLK? their sense of priviledge finally was overstepped.
