Last primary season in Indiana we had this Republican who's ad ended with this line:
"Vote for (I can't remember his name) or GO TO HELL!"
I'm not kidding either. The guy was so out there that he never had a chance, but his ads scared the hell out of me. They were so over the top that you'd think they were jokes, but they weren't.

2. Oh, Bri, now that we are on the way to Orwellian Totalitarian Police State |
|
Oligarchy, is it REALLY the most disturbing campaign ad?
Even if it is...worse to come, you can make book on it.
When they are done consoldiating their unchecked unopposed un fettered-by-Constitution-or-Bill-of-Rights (except that each Bushevik Emperor will serve 8 years before handing the throne to someone else), they'll be coming for all of us.

What do you find distrubing about this ad? What "creepy religious thing" is going on?
I find the ad to be plain, boring, and dull.

12. First he has to win the primary |
|
and that will not be an easy task. The GOP has some heavy weights running, including 2 time loser Richard Vinroot and fomer GOP State Chairman Bill Cobey (who seems to be the odds on favorite to win the GOP nomination).
If Vinroot gets the nod you can bet the farm on Easley being reelected. Though I am no fan of Easley and as AG he cost the state billions and billions of dollars in lawsuit loses that he was repeatedly told by everyone he was going to lose but he stupidly pursued them anyway.

I'm in Asheville, have seen the ad, and haven't really thought much of it. If I recall, he says he's going to cut taxes, etc.... Your typical political ad. So his theme is "Believe". Whoop do doo.

23. Yeah, I saw it today. Unsettling, to say the least. |
|
But I am not really worried; the fundies in the state are not powerful enough to put this creep in. Yes, jesse helms was elected 4 times, but that was more due to the tobacco issue, and some racism, than religion.
Anyway, I think Gov Easley can hang on, he hasn't pissed many people off that I know of.
