1. YES!
Very much so. They employ Ann Coulter, if I'm not mistaken.

5. If it's supposed to prove current or recent Iraqi WMDs, the story is a...
...nonstarter.

-snip-

The IAEA will run comparisons on the sample to see if it came from Iraq's al-Qaim mine, which was bombed in 1991 and dismantled in 1996-97, Fleming said.

7. The FACT is that the US LOST radioactive material in Iraq!
It was a well known fact that several sites in Iraq had large quantities of 'yellow cake' and smaller quantities of more highly radioactive isotopes left over from the shutdown of Iraq's nuclear power program. These materials had been under the watch and seal of the IAEA. (International Atomic Energy Agency)
At the beginning of GWII, US forces concentrated on securing the oil fields and the Interior Ministry building, (the agency responsible for maintaining maps and geological data pertaining to Iraq's oil fields and other natural resources) and neglected to guard the nuclear sites allowing local villagers to loot the facilities. During the looting, many containers of low and mid level nuclear waste were emptied on the ground and the containers were taken back to peoples homes to be used for storage of food, water and other household goods. Several containers that held more deadly radioactive sources were also taken. A number of Iraqi's came down with symptoms of radiation sickness although accurate numbers are hard to come by in the 'fog of war'.
The IAEA demanded access to the sites and the local population to asses the extent of the looting and civilian exposure but were only granted limited access to the facilities for a short period of time and no access to the population to conduct any studies.
The US paid, IIRC, between US $3.00 and US $10.00 each to retrieve the looted barrels.

No one knows how much is still missing. :scared:

8. According to the Kay Report
22 pounds of uranium is MISSING as verified by the IAEA
"It wasn't until seven of Iraq's main nuclear facilities were extensively looted that the true magnitude of the administration's strategic blunder came into focus.

The White House knew all along, for example, that enormous quantities of dangerous nuclear materials were at the Tuwaitha nuclear storage facility near Baghdad, sealed and accounted for by the United Nations' International Atomic Energy Agency. Soon after the war began, the IAEA warned the White House that it should strive to secure the facility quickly. When word of looting at the site began to leak out through the international media, the IAEA again warned the White House.

The looting, however, went on for more than two weeks before the U.S. took any action. When the site was finally secured and U.S. authorities permitted a brief inspection by IAEA officials, the inspectors were inexplicably forbidden to check the status of highly radioactive materials that could be used in dirty bombs. Many of these materials are now unaccounted for. What the inspectors were allowed to verify is how much uranium is now missing: at least 22 pounds.

Other looted nuclear sites include the Baghdad Nuclear Research Center, where significant quantities of partially enriched uranium, cesium, strontium and cobalt were stored. U.S. survey teams have not been able to determine how many of those materials are missing."

Even the barrels that were returned were done largely by a campaign launched by Greenpeace in Iraq...people stole the barrels to store water and what have you.
The US bounty for their return was too little for anyone to BUY another barrel...so Greenpeace just got a bunch of barrels and swapped them even-steven...they end up getting most of the 'yellow cake' barrels back--NOT Bremer

Bush and his bunch are stupid and dangerous...
