UH Oh, latest WMD findings may make us look bad
I'm afraid we liberals may have been wrong all along

Re: AP Newswire - WMD Found in Iraq

More to come, watch your FOX NEWS!!!!

US soldiers have found massive amounts of WMDs in Iraq, just as we were promised. According to news reports, no joke, they've found all of this stuff:

-Millions of gallons of Hydrogen Hydroxide! This chemical weapon, when inhaled, prevents people from absorbing oxygen properly through the lungs and causes a terrible death not unlike drowning.

-Tons of Sodium Chloride! This chemical weapon is capable of killing people by actually making their blood burst out of their veins. NASTY!

-Millions of chunks of Depleted Uranium! Saddam has apparently been stockpiling this deadly substance all over Iraq since 1991. It has been found in many military and 'civilian' sites targeted by coalition forces. Exposure to this substance can cause deadly tumors and Iraq has enough to injure thousands of Americans with plenty left over to spare. Barbaric! -

Iraq has been discovered to be a major source of Silicon Dioxide! In the hands of terrorists, this insidious WMD can destroy the innards of every piece of American high-tech weaponry. It can also be concealed in foodstuffs, rendering a victim's dentition useless, possibly leading to a slow death by starvation. Sickening!

1. I am so tempted...
...to send this to the same girl that sent me the "Robin Williams peace plan" (falsely attributed to Robin Williams) and the other hoax about Senator Hillary Clinton not meeting with the veterans' mothers.

4. Yea and they probably found some rancid popcorn that could gag a mule
I think you can buy this stuff at Walmart too can't you? I think I remember having some of it in my Gilbert chemistry set when I was a kid. I loved making ink disappear and turning chunks of zinc from old D cell batteries into hydrogen then sucking it in and talking like the chimp monks.

5. Initial reaction: Breathe, relax...
1. It's Fox News, which goes positively orgasmic over anything pro-*.

2. What are the other uses for all the substances named? Physics majors, scientists? Clue in us laypersons, please.

3. If he's been stockpiling it since 1991, how much of it was stockpiled after 1998, and how potent is it still?

4. If it was an "imminent threat," why wasn't it used on U.S. troops?

5. DU? We're the ones who left DU all over Iraq in 1991. I want proof it's not ours.

6. Link?

Upshot: Wait and see. The Danes thought they'd found mustard gas in that other cache of ten-year-old warheads, too.

15. Last weekend I watched "The Real Saddam"
On the Discovery channel at the urging of a conservative friend. First off I was amazed at how propagandist the Discovery channel can be. But then they focused on Usay Hussein and his efforts to restore harmony with his father. They showed a bunker housing compressed gases allegedly used to further the chemical wepons program. Every cylinder that I could make out had a D.O.T label on it. Easy to deduce where those came from. And make a rough estimate as to their age. Probably they were all empty to begin with.

17. Such a defeatist thread title. And based on faux news!
Why would you even think something like this is going to hurt the Democratic Party? Why would you think this garbage news, which means little or nothing but gets freepers all excited, would mean anything to any rational human being?

My title would be 'Faux is saying old tap water found and are trying to convince Bushbots it is the missing WMD!'

18. And for Post 1000!!!
I had to read this twice!!!

Don't do this so early on Saturday morning...dude

This is funnier that most of what passes for 'political satire' these days...
'fool me once, fool me...er...what a minute, silicon!!!'

Saddam could have packaged the stuff in little tiny packets and placed them into virtually every medicine bottle on the planet!!!

Good one...

24. Locking
Rules to start discussion threads in the General Discussion forum.

1. If you start a thread in the General Discussion forum, you must present your opinion in a manner that is not inflammatory, which respects differences in opinion, and which is likely to lead to respectful discussion rather than flaming. Some examples of things which should generally be avoided are: unnecessarily hot rhetoric, nicknames for prominent Democrats or their supporters, broad-brush statements about groups of people, single-sentence "drive-by" thread topics, etc.

2. The subject line of a discussion thread must accurately reflect the actual content of the message.

3. The subject line of a discussion thread may not include profanity or swear words, even if words or letters are replaced by asterisks, dashes, or abbreviations.

4. The subject line and the entire text of the message which starts the thread may not include excessive capitalization, or excessive punctuation.

5. If you post an article or other published content which is from a conservative source or which expresses a traditionally conservative viewpoint, you must state your opinion about the piece and/or the issues it raises.

6. You may not start a new discussion thread in order to continue a current or recent flame war from another thread. The moderators have the authority to lock threads in order to contain flaming on a particular topic to only one thread at a time.

7. Discussion topics that mention any or all of the Democratic presidential primary candidates are not permitted in the General Discussion forum, and instead must be posted in the General Discussion: 2004 Primary forum.
Nowhere in the rules do we see an exception for sarcasm, no matter how subtle or obvious.

Thank you for your understanding and cooperation,
DU moderator
