Will the Bush-supportive media still remain so when he's out of office?
For example, this $1 trillion Mars lunacy. It costs too much, and is damn well too dangerous until we develop a faster method of travelling in space. However, the worst thing the media has done is just spout off a bunch of numbers. My local station, WCCO, had a guest this morning who was more than supportive of this prime pork project (along with * ) and she made me puke. If/when a Dem is elected and halts this lunacy, will the media be behind the Dem? Or behind the propaganda * has laid out?

And the same philosophy follows for any number of * tactics. Will a Dem President be seen as unAmerican or worse if he/she reverses any of *'s policies?

1. Depends on who owns the media
If the Dems are able to stop the conglomeration of media corporate ownership, and introduce a Fairness Doctrine, then maybe.

Then, of course, there is are a rising number of people who so distrust US news that they are going to other sources to get information. Don't think they'll be coming back all that soon, no matter what happens.

2. They may be whores, but one things sure, they get all girly over winners
And if the Dems win, they'll be a sort of honeymoon for them, except for the usual suspects--Faux News, WSJ, and other right-wing propoganda machines.

The question is how long it will last--maybe they need to employ some brass knuckles tactics like the Bushitas are doing--that seems to keep the media towing the line.

3. WWWD?
What would whores do? Why, they'll be loyal to whoever pays them. (Clue: that would be the rich.)

4. The "liberal media" does not exist-Republican media will critize Dem. Prez
and lift up anything a Rep. says or does - including Bush.

5. Corporations and the "elite" always have an agenda -- and last
time I looked ...it's slanted more towards more power, greed and money for them...not for the "people"

The media is a tool of the corp...and howard dean has commented on this on Hardball --- and you see how the media can affect elections.

6. Depends on whether or not.......
he goes to prison. If he's sitting in a jail cell, probably not. If they let him run free and not give him cell time, they'll probably continue to support him. Don't know about you but I'm hoping for jail time myself.

7. Who ever would've thought they could deify Reagan?
Edited on Sat Jan-17-04 12:27 PM by Cat Atomic
They may not put him on a pedestal, but they'll never criticize him. The facts of his presidency don't matter. If I had to guess, I'd say we'll see think tanks try to idolize Bush Jr. in posterity. Just like Reagan.

But who knows- he could end up like Nixon, too.

9. the media needs to be dealt with
seriously, we need some sort of plan to deal with the media. Because without them, this country can't work.

We need to come up with some sort of Manhattan Project-intense brainstorming session to come up with a way to force them to be impartial.

Whether it's by legal means or some sort of massive peaceful protests, they need to be forced to tell the truth.

Without a free press this country cannot function as a democracy.

10. the only way they will wake up is...if their jobs get outsourced.
THEN...they meet the reality of everyone else. Until then...it's don't bite the hand that feeds you and kiss the emporer's ass.
