ALERT:Drudge and RNC going two-for-two
Matt Drudge and his RNC masters have pulled off a brilliant two-for-two in the last two days and at least two of the democratic campaigns (Lieberman and Dean) have apparently been duped. But, there's some serious questions about Drudge's "sources".

As many of you may have noticed, on Thursday Drudge pieced together disparate sentences from General Clark's Sept 2002 Congressional testimony and then claimed the made up quotes proved that Clark actually supported Bush's invasion of Iraq. This report was interestingly coordinated with the RNC chair's speech in Arkansas on Thursday morning making the exact same charge. Interesting how the RNC and Drudge both independently decided to concoct quotes from mixing different sentences of General Clark's testimony to make it appear he supported the administration?!? Well then of course, RNC puppets at the Wall Street Journal editorial board and Lou Dobbs at CNN got the call to repeat the story on their own....

Then yesterday, Drudge amazingly discovered quotes attributed to John Kerry calling for "the elimination of the Departments of Education and Agriculture". Drudge's source for this story was extremely murky and definitely ill-timed for the Kerry campaign going into the weekend before the Iowa Caucuses ... Interestingly, Drudge no longer has this story on his site but rather now links to a second hand report at the Moonie owned Washington Times quoting Drudge ... What an incredible cyclical sourcing that one is! Interestingly, Drudge names a spokeswoman at the Dean campaign as supposedly reacting to the charge but this woman's name is nowhere to be found on the Dean campaign site ... Could Matt Drudge have been too emboldened by his RNC masters and actually f*%cked up this story and that's why he needed to retract it so quickly?

Everyone should be aware that the RNC is in overdrive with their tired old tactic of using Matt Drudge to float rumors and outright lies and then allowing the so-called "mainstream" RNC puppet papers and commentators to then pretend that this is real news and include it in their own papers.

1. I sent an email to Lou Dobbs
Using a lot of what you posted and complimented him on being such a good shill for the RNC by spreading net rumors and lies.

2. Thanks for speaking up
I also sent Lou Dobbs and CNN a similar e-mail on Friday. I do though have to credit Josh Marshall's Talking Points Memo and other postings here on DU for some of the pieces. I think we should all call Lou Dobbs on what is either extremely lazy reporting for using Matt Drudge as a source or at worst Lou Dobbs' complicity with the RNC in this coordinated attack on General Clark, a man Lou Dobbs has banned from his show for perceived ethical failings on General Clark's part.

4. I also had to email dobbs
past a certain point it's not a mistake, it's corruption. Dobbs should have some bit of responsibility for what he reports.

5. Well put patmac
The right wing disinformation team has been doing this crap for years. Some jerk-off like Drudge publishes some total bullsh*t, and then the right wingers shift into overdrive spreading the falsehood through their network of "news" organizations.
It's just like Lou Dobbs to participate. I do get a kick out of it when they start quoting each other as sources. It shows just how absurd their "fact gathering" is.

6. Well-said, but I have a question...
you say two campaigns have been duped - Lieberman's and Dean's - by Drudge's skullduggery. I know that Lieberman used Drudge as his source to slam Clark, but Lieberman is beyond the pale anyway, so who cares?

My question is, when did Dean use Drudge as a source? If he didn't, perhaps you'd like to amend your assertation.

7. Half-apology...
Apparently there is a Tricia Enright in the Dean campaign:

but, because this is a Moonie Times/Drudge hatchet job, I'll wait to fully apologize until this can be verified.

Oh yeah, Drudge doesn't even post the link now. Can't wait to hear him not explain this one too.

8. The Dean Spokeswoman ....
According to the Drudge article (which is now completely gone from his site having been exposed as a fraud) carried a quote from Dean campaign spokeswoman Tricia Enright. Who after doing a web search I found is in fact Dean's spokeswoman. Strangely though, the campaign does not carry this supposed statement to Drudge. But in Lieberman's defense, neither does his site carry the supposed quote regarding Clark on their site.

Developing .....
