The guy on CNN just informed us that the most dangerous job in IRAQ has to be police man. Well Duh.

16. Looks like a huge explosion.
There are at least 3 vehicles including a small bus totally on fire and what looks like a couple of dead people in the street; they said they've already evacuated the injured. They are saying no reports of fatalites but you can see at least one dead man. Also they are reporting 1 servicemember injured. It's at an entrance to the CPA called "Assassin's Gate."

14. car bomb
http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/middle_east/3407061.stm

A large explosion, believe to be caused by a car bomb, has gone off in central Baghdad, with reports of casualties.

It is believed to have occurred in an area close to a former palace of Saddam Hussein, which is now used as an American military base.

So far, the 15 wasn't overcounted.

I can't even imagine what it must be like to have your country under attack like that.

Actually I do think that the term Suicide Bombers is inaccurate,
as the suicide part is incidental to what they're doing. Suicide bombers, to my way of thinking, would blow themselves up but not anyone else. Like the monks in Vietnam who would douse themselves with gasoline and then light the match.

37. Seems to me that Major "King" Kong was a suicide bomber.
If he'd stayed with the plane, then he'd just be the typical beribboned homicide bomber.

29. Our soldiers are roughing the Iraqi's up pretty good at the site
Looks like they were trying to pull their dead relatives out. Must be near something important because we are clearing everyone out. Lots of army dogs. Canines for crowd control I guess.

Right outside one of the old Presidential Palaces that the coalition troops use. Our soldiers were all inside.

Edited on Sun Jan-18-04 01:46 AM by JohnyCanuck
to decide whether it's safe to reopen their offices in Iraq. This won't be a whole lot of help in Shrubby's efforts to get the UN (irrelevant as they might be) involved in Iraq again.

38. Welcome to the New American Nightmare.
We saw this coming, we knew the end result, but Bush had to have this war. Who will come in and relieve us of our responsibility to fix what we have broken?

Taking Saddam out has opened a Pandora's box for the people of Iraq...we stay and provide the focus for an endless cycle of violence; we leave now and the violence increases as the multiple factions vie for power. This didn't need to happen.

What a mess.
