Bush to Revive Social Security Tax Plan
Jan 16, 12:09 PM (ET)
By SCOTT LINDLAW
WASHINGTON (AP) - President Bush will use next week's State of the Union address to try to revive a proposal that would allow younger workers to invest a portion of their Social Security taxes in the stock market, the White House said Friday.
<snip>

Just as Medicare will fall when private insurers are allowed (and encouraged) to bleed off participants, Social Security will become unviable when private investment is allowed to siphon money from the investment pool. And once an entitlement becomes actuarially unviable, congress can then eradicate it.

This was already run off the road once, but since * and Co. think that they're playing a hot hand, they're going to sell it again. What do you want to bet that Congress, especially the House, will hail this as the best thing to come along since Viagra?

Older individuals who won't be around long enough to see Medicare and Social Security utterly gutted and broken will be the lucky ones.

1. Sounds like a line in the sand
Now's the time, if this is true, for all of us to fire up our Dem reps, and get them to have the courage to hold the line. For a change.

I needed mention what this will mean if this comes to pass.

Get ready for letter-writing and phone calling.

2. OH MY!?
They wouldn't do that would they? Neo-liberal laissez-faire capitalism is so American. American is so great. Ergo, they wouldn't do that.
When are people going to wake up. I spent the day knocking on Democrats' doors for Kucinich (as Gore Vidal says: a sensible conservative) and to go vote in the caucus on Feb. 3 and many are still clueless. A few said we have to get rid of Bu$h and I said and Heather Wilson and the Repub Congress. Some said: yes to that to. The only ones really aware and astute were 71, 80, 83. Hell, they could croak befor the election.
