Who amongst you is registering new voters....
and what are some of the locations where you've had success?

What other advice can you give to others who realize that this is the most effective contribution (beside voting) we can make to increase our chance of success?

2. How do you do this
Do you just give out the cards? Do you have the registrant fill it out right there, and mail it for them if they agree (I'd think this would be best)?

3. Your best bet is to go and visit a local organizing effort
either at a church, or any civic organization. This year, I see a lot of activity with the organizations that serve primarily the needs of minorities. They can use your help.

5. I picked up 50 cards
and I ask everyone I come into contact with if they are registered. I offer to mail the cards in for them or they may do it themselves. I have had the best luck with the friends of my sons who are either just turning 18 or are the 20 year olds who have never bothered. Some of them do not care until you talk with them but by talking to them about voting I have managed to get them interested in the process. It has been very rewarding.

7. Any number
is a big number. I have been amazed at how little some folks care and how easy it is to show them the importance of voting. We need to start educating students better than we are. Some of them know nothing about the process. I have found that many people just feel beat down by "the man" and no longer feel they can make a difference. It is just so sad. Good for you.

8. Imagine if each of us got 11 people to register and do what you have done
Sure would make a difference wouldn't it?
