Military casualties are way over 500!
Edited on Sun Jan-18-04 01:16 PM by veracity
First, in its usual arrogance, - the Pentagon NEVER mentions the deaths of other troops in the meager "coalition!." As of today (1/18) - in addition to the 500 American troops that have been killed...98 soldiers from other nations have been killed in Iraq! The blood of those deaths is also on Bush's head.

In addition - we don't get the numbers dead in accidents, 'non violent gunshot deaths,' suicides, diseases, and from other causes. We don't know how many soldiers die in hospitals after being wounded. Speaking of wounded...that total is NEVER given....as of today it's 2,893!

For daily totals, here's a good site:

1. Also what about the Iraqis working with the 'coalition'
Edited on Sun Jan-18-04 12:48 PM by DUreader
Are they not members?

How many 'Iraqi Police' , 'interpreters', Kurds etc.

How about the Iraqis working in the green zone who get blown up at the gates, are not they 'coalition' members?

How about the military 'contractors' (mercenaries)?

One Big Shell Game!

5. also...civilians are dying every day.
Reminder: the US will not allow the Iraqi Ministry of Health to even COUNT the numbers of Iraqis being killed every day, nor are they allowed to give a total they already had before the muzzle went on.

Again, I blame the media for not demanding the tuth. The lapdog press remains on all fours.

2. The Pentagon announced 504 on Jan 11
A total of 504 American soldiers have been killed in Iraq while about 2,849 others have been wounded in the nearly 10 months since the US-led coalition invaded the country, the Pentagon confirmed on Sunday.

The Pentagon added the nine killed when a UH-60 Black Hawk went down in the Iraqi town of Fallujah on Thursday, and another fatality to the total.

On Friday, the defence department said 494 had died, including 342 in hostile fire and another 152 due to non-combat incidents, including accidents and suicides.

Pentagon spokesman Megan Grafton said that in addition to the nine killed in Fallujah, another soldier was killed in a mortar attack on January 7 in Baghdad.

6. not Bush's war any more...
Now he can blame NATO. But, of course....he'll refer to Afghanistan as a great victory and experiment in democracy in the SOTU. Puke.

7. I did an analysis of the deaths, war vs peacetime
Edited on Sun Jan-18-04 01:19 PM by Pobeka
And soldiers are dying at a rate about 9 times of the rate during peacetime -- these "accidents" are a direct result of the war. Lemme go find that thread...

On edit: Here's the thread. Also just below it is a comparison of peacetime vs wartime wounded rates. The comparison was done using DOD data -- links to sources are in those posts.
