I just saw the Bush in 30 Seconds winner on CNN! |

Edited on Tue Jan-20-04 09:23 AM by onehandle
The ad ran around 8:30 am. Just about fell off my treadmill. I "wooped" and threw my fist in the air. Got some looks...heh heh.
After the break, they had RNC mouthpiece Clifford May talking about the State of the Union speech. He went on and on about how the whole world was out to get us, and implied that terrorists were perched to topple us.
Hey asshole! We're the UNITED STATES OF AMERICA. Nobody is going to topple us! You may be unsure of your potency, but the rest of us are virile, proud Americans. We will be here long after your illegitimate empty fight suit is long gone! Pedal your scare tactics and insecurity elsewhere, bub!

Nice to hear that someone (CNN!) will air the ad! I know how you feel about the whole "we have to be afraid of everyone" ideal. I couldn't believe how everyone was acting around the leadup to the Iraq landsnatch. I was asking people, "For God's sake, are you trying to tell me you live in the USA, the strongest nation in the history of the world, and you're afraid of IRAQ?!?!" And they were. THAT'S what's scary, IMO.

3. Afraid of Iraq? Of course. |
|
Tiny little Cuba has been used to terrify the American public for years, why not Iraq?

I believe he is on our side now sortakinda, isn't he?
Khadaffi, dictator of Lybia, declared war on the US in the 80s and the whole country trembled with fear.
Lybia, a poor country, roughly the size of Alaska but 90% of that being Sahara desert, has 5 million people. The closest comparison I can think of is Paraguay. Wouldn't we just laugh if Paraguay declared war on the US, even though it is a lot closer to us and a threat from them should be taken much more seriously? I bet Mickey D would give galoping gauchos with their happy meal.
Americans can be made to feel threatened by anything. I believe this is the first time somebody abused that concept and acted on it on such great scale.

We're #1 at the cut and run... surrounded by propaganda and BS. With hubris oozing from almost every pore. (example above)

What is with this attitude? Of course we can be toppled. It's happening right now.
The bloated arrogance of Americans is appalling.

That Bush is using fear to get "re-elected".
Terrorists will injure us, but not topple us. Rove and company want us to think that Osama is ready to leap out of our garages and take over.
