Let Us Celebrate Bush's Final State Of The Union Address
Edited on Tue Jan-20-04 06:21 PM by ZombyWoof
He shall from time to time give to the Congress Information of the State of the Union, and recommend to their Consideration such Measures as he shall judge necessary and expedient..." - United States Constitution, Article II, Section 3.

Before he enter on the Execution of his Office, he shall take the following Oath or Affirmation:- "I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will faithfully execute the Office of President of the United States, and will to the best of my Ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States."-United States Constitution, Article II, Section 1.

One year from today, a new president will be sworn into the highest office in the land, winning a legal election from the second Bush to disgrace the White House. Bush has long made a mockery of the oath he wasn't even elected to uphold. Three years of his occupation are being marked today, and hope springs forth from the Democratic party basking in the afterglow of an invigorating Iowa caucus.

Momentum is the operative word of the week. The candidates in Iowa experienced shifts with momentum on levels undreamed of a week ago, and Bush - long a media darling and beneficiary of their lack of scrutiny - is on the verge of experiencing his own downward trend. His post-Saddam bounce has faded like so many bad drapes in the sunshine, and there is new energy heading into the state of New Hampshire this week. This three year mark is a moment to seize for the Democrats, and truly, ALL Americans concerned about the decline of American freedoms, our stature, and our collective fortunes.

Expect the usual jingoism, lies, impossible rhetoric, and a more than unhealthy dose of smirking cowboy posturing. All the Orwellian stops will be pulled: "We are winning the War on Terror", "We are punishing the evildoers", "We will create more jobs, seek permanent tax cuts, and learn our children good!" It will be everything that makes you turn off the TV when he is on, and more.

It will be less, too. Less substance than normal, even for him. Less intelligent, less bridge-building, less visionary, less truthful, and less dignified. No single person has ever lessened this great office than the C-student frat boy from New Haven, Connecticut.

But rejoice my friends and fellow travelers. After tonight, Bush will never again stand before the body of the people, our Congress of the United States, and soil the Constitution he has unfaithfully perverted, rather than preserved; contracted rather than protected; and defiled, rather than defended, these three long years. He gets one more year, and let it come with deliberate speed for our safety, and yet great care, for much work is to be done.

It is a happy occasion to be sure.

5. nope
I have ALWAYS said that he won't be toast until Inauguration Day. What I scoff at are the tinfoilers who think he is going to be impeached or that we have another Watergate on our hands. The "drip-drip" threads and other nonsense. I still mock those, just like I mock Reagan..

But I haven't changed my views once. Bush is not toast any sooner than January 20, 2005, and if he makes it to 2009, it will only be if Dean manages to get the nod, but that argument is for another forum.

Nice try Stevie D. You missed the boat with your attempted zinger. :D

10. Fair enough.
I hope that you are right, and that my 'zinger' was off the mark.

No one will be happier than me if we have a free and fair election and Bushco loses. Start a Democratic victory thread on November 2nd or a Democratic inauguration celebration thread on January 20, 2005, and I'll be there to congratulate you on your wisdom.

By 2009, I'll be living under a bridge, otherwise.

7. With you
to you, a :toast: to the rapid passing of this final year of this *moron's reign.

I can't watch it, would not watch it if for pay. I plan to tune into Gilmore Girls with my daughters, their choice and just grins all around, perhaps my eye on a thread here, or an earbud headphone tuned to an internet broadcast of the incoherent ramblings the *moron is so well known for, but i will not watch it.

i've seen all the smirks i can stand for this lifetime.

peace,
dp

15. Maybe you feel like crying because even if Bush is gone...it will take
years to recover from the damage he's done. Bush being beaten is like a guy who starts a barfight then walks away while everybody else is still engaged. In other words, the fight--the war, the economy, the constitutional damage, the senate majority, the supreme court bias--are all there for years to come. It makes little difference whether he wins or loses. He's done his deed for the devil.

14. thanks all!
I wasn't home when it aired, but I have yet to break my "Bush is not allowed on my TV for more than 1/2 a second" rule. :-) So I wouldn't have watched it anyway. Any of you masochists do so? :spank:
