Bush's arrogance comes out again!!
Bush has now said "We'll never seek a permission slip", meaning interntional community and the UN to basically invade any country Bush deems a threat. Boy I feel sick all of a sudden!

7. Not the entire PATRIOT Act
Just certain provisions are set to expire next year.

5. Is anyone else frightened by what this man is saying?
I read on this forum that someone thinks this is a great speech? I disagree. It think he has simply placed us on an even more dangerous footing in the world and has shot all chances of getting true international support, ie more powerful european nations and more importantly, islamic nations in our corner. I'm traveling to europe in 3 weeks. I wish I hadn't already bought the tickets now. The world just became a more dangerous place for americans.

8. Welcome to DU, Cindy B.
I can't listen but I can imagine what he is saying. This administration is all about arrogance. Many have simply tuned them out. Enjoy your trip and know you will be in the company of like-minded people.

6. His face whenever he gets an applause
reminds me of a child who has just gotten away with something.

9. This was VERY strong

This was actually a GOOD thing to say. The suggestion that the US NEEDS UN approval to go to war is bad.

The principle should be that we need cooperation with international partners (NATO) in order to take pre-emptive action. The UN is a forum for international cooperation. They will not always agree if we need to defend ourselves.
