Democrats might as well have not responded |
|
Pelosi's botox eyes were too evident. Daschle looked better but he said nothing. Very rarely do I agree with that spitting serpent Matthews but he has brought up a list of items (including Iraq) and empty promises from last year that the Dem response didn't touch. They should have done so much better.

1. I thought they did a good job of pointing out that only 3% of imports |
|
are inspected in the ports. They basically pointed out all the failures of the administration's war on terror. Besides the rather dull delivery, there message I thought was pretty good. They pointed out alot of failures and offered reasonable, sensible solutions. They probably had to respond with some caution because we are constantly being told how "popular" the chimp is. We all recognized the chimp would get a boost after the speech so that probably had a huge effect on their response.
I didn't think it was that bad.

3. What works against Bush is attack |
|
playing nice or fearing his "popularity" only leads to defeat. The Dems did this for a full year after Sept 11 and look what it got them. Bush isn't that popular (at best 50-55%) so why are Dems chickening out. Its one thing for Kerry, Dean, Clark et al to attack his flawed promises....but it sure would help if our "leaders" did so on national TV.

7. I agree whole heartedly, I think they just used some caution |
|
and didn't attack RIGHT AFTER the SOTU. It would have added to the argument that dems are just political and * is "above the fray". You know, all that BS. In my opinion, he will get a bump in the polls, let that sit for awhile, then attack. Of course with the candidates attacking right now in NH. I think they took the right course on this one.

12. Democrats have to smash the public persona of Bush |
|
and they won't do that by being nice and civil. They have to treat Bush with the same viciousness that Newt used on Clinton.

4. I think we all appreciated the fact that Dean was standing up to |
|
Bush, but it was only last night that he came in third in Iowa. Do you think the fact that Dean lost made Pelosi more cautious? I don't think Daschle is capable of being animated.

8. Not necessarily, I just think it wouldn't look good to do a full on |
|
frontal assault right after the SOTU (see post above). The way the dems are treated by the media, it probably would've hurt them.

The Media would criticize them either way. Better to deserve the criticism.
This is just like Gore turning into a jellyfish after people found him too "agressive". No, if they say your too agressive that means your making an impact. Attack HARDER!!!!!
Pelosi and Daschle are both embarassments. They are just the type of Democrat that the media likes.

16. It's hard for any opposition |
|
after the SOTU. There's all the pomp and applause, and then there you are following sitting in a room by yourself. I think all responses have been weak in my memory.

Not great, but they're not in power. Pelosi has white teeth and that's all I saw.

domestic. Therefor, he wouldn't have mentioned Iraq.

14. I wasn't so unhappy with dems.. |
|
Yeah, if it were me, I'd have been "booing" from the gallery or have everyone raise anti-policy placards after each vile sentence "he" spoke.
Pelosi I like well enough...Boxer I like even better (from Calif.) Daschle, on the other hand, is a weenie. There he was walking in right behind the punk smiling and laughing la la la laalalalalalaal all the way to his seat. BUT, when the entire left side of the aisle refused to stand up at MOST of "his" outrageous proposals etc. I was pleased. Gotta remember, we are out numbered in congress and the right wing does eat it's young.........yikes!
I thought Ted K was pretty much tied in knots while listening to the diatribe by "the punk". All is not lost yet but I am sick to my stomach after that blabber fest.
Hey folks, we have to get this devil out no matter who wins the nomination. Let's roll............... :bounce:

Ladies & Gentlemen:
Mr Bush is leading our country (and the rest of the world) right down the crapper..
The only people "better off" now are rich people..
Everything has gotten progressively worse since this loser had his Daddy's pals select him..
Enough's enough..
He's gotta go !!

I thought exposing Bush*'s tax cuts as "invisible tax increases" on the middle class was pretty effective.
