MoveOn.org ad denied Super Bowl spot and yet ....
Edited on Wed Jan-21-04 02:46 AM by Cascadian
the White House is allowed to show their ads. Something is wrong here! What in the heck is the network scared of???? The Democratic candidates need to address a return to the fairness in media act! I am not planning to watch the Super Bowl anyway because of this crap! Anybody else going to boycott the big game?

1. Correct me if I'm wrong, but the "White House" ads are anti-drug ads.
I don't agree with CBS's position on this, but I think there IS a difference between political position ads and what the media classifies as "PSA's".

3. Right.
People who smoke pot support terrorists or their kids die in swimming pools. I'm thrilled to see my tax dollars being spent on this kind of "public service" ad. Nothing political in that content.

6. Again, I'm not agreeing with the position, but they DO have a valid
distinction. I think it weakens our position to state that the MoveOn ad is the same as a PSA that we don't all agree with. It makes us look overly critical to the point of irrationality.

13. There's an argument to be made that they're not.
As PSAs, they wouldn't fall under CBSs rule.

We KNOW that they're PSAs. Whether they are political is a matter of opinion.

4. You should see some of the PSA's...
the US has made in the past.

I went to ebay and looked at old posters.

Wow.

Weird place America.

8. Imperial Amerika is even weirder
The nation you spoke of, the Leader of the Free World, is gone. maybe it can be restored, but Imperial Amerika doesn;t even belong to the Free World, where the people have a say about selecting their National Leader, anymore.

The Old American Republic:

Born 7-4-1776
Died of Unnatural Causes 12-12-2000

The corspe is hardly cold and I miss it already.

2. Easy to do ...
... I don't plan on watching it either!

A positive thought: MoveOn.org can buy a lot more TV spots with that money! Perhaps just before or after even!

Bring it on!

5. If MoveOn plays the card right....
....they'll raise hell over the issue. That will give them more coverage than they would during the Superbowl at a fraction of the cost.

9. there's a difference between a special interest group and the WHITE HOUSE
;) I would understand if CBS was showing anti-abortion ads from some rightwing group. But the White House shows their funded ads regardless of what party holds the presidency.

CBS's position, which I agree with, is that they won't show inflammatory political propaganda from special interest groups.

Moveon.org is not being treated unfairly.

11. Better yet, get a list of Super Bowl Advertizers and boycott THEM.
And don't forget to email them and tell them WHY you are boycotting them.

That is the only thing that works.

15. I'm boycotting
no way will I watch. Feels like the post 9/11 Super Bowl all over again when Fox was broadcasting it. They had more rah-rah Bu$h crapola, I had to turn it off.

17. I would rather
watch fishing with bubba than the Super Bowl! I am sick of seeing Chimps face every other commercial! You are right the Super Bowl will be used as repuke propaganda once again!
